I've found my fighting mentality and attitude vary depending on which plane I fly. I began flying the 109 the other day.

so here is my take on the sensation of it and a few other fighters

109g10: almost always on the offensive, even its defensive tactic of gaining altitude advantage makes its defense an offense. it's great for attacking a1 and alt monkeys... fire up the nitrous and shoot up to 20k. and shooting at point blank range you can bring down b17s and land 5 kill sorties with its escape from death ability.

P-38: I twitch a lot when I see a high con but generally want to mix it up and take names.

P-51: very conservative when flying since its hard to stay on the offensive without dying, ussually end up running away.

Typhoon: whenever I think I'm doing pretty good I get in a typhoon and become humbled by the newest of newbies
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

You flying that G10 with or without the pods?

In regards to P51, in theory, one could go thru an entire tour without being shot down if he has the time and patience.

Can't remember  the exact  quote, but goes something like:
"When you can engage and disengage at will (ie. you have the fastest aircraft), you have won 1/2 the battle"

LOL funk. The P in P51 stands for pansey. Check the USAAF nomenclature.

Santa don't forget about Typhoons.  Nothing a Typhoon pilot likes to see more than a G-10 or P-51D trying to run on the deck.
