Finns need Russians today in CT!
« on: December 13, 2002, 08:30:30 AM »
Finland vs Russia map is now in CT one week. In this evening there are coming plenty of Finns to shoot down all the Red Stars. Are you enough brave to fly Russian fighters?:D

If you are, wellcome to Combat Theater at 18:00 GMT!

Ps. Of course you can fly with Finnish and German planes, too...

I don't know very much about the Brewster, but why substitute for it with the FM2 instead of the F4F?  FM2 is a much better plane than F4F except for guns.  Wouldn't the F4F be a closer fit?  Was the Brewster used in Finland the same model as the Brewster the US had in the early Pacific, or was it a better variant.  My understanding was that the Brewster was a dog that couldn't compete in the Pacific and was withdrawn from service and replaced with the F4F.

Not really a whine, just a question.  Also, I hate aircraft substitutions.  I know this needs to be done to fill out the planesets but I still don't like it.

If the Bolsheviks get the 9U, the Finns are going to need all the help they can get.

We've actually talked about the Brewster substitute before.  I was somewhat torn on which to use, but decided to take Kanttori's advice to use the FM-2.  The Brewster the Finn's used was somewhat different (faster, better climbing, lighter) than the one used by the US.  Thus, we (the CT staff) felt the difference in firepower between the F4F and FM2 would be more significant in this set up than the difference in flight performance.  Balance wise, we felt it the better choice.  Hope that explains it.  Thanks.

Heya Sakai,

I flew with the Finns in BoB and they helped me out on some Finnish words..

Good Evning Fine Sir! = Tulta Munille

Dots at 11 O'Clock = Dotteja Kello Yksitoista
"        "   1 = Yks
2 = kaksi
3 = Klome
4 = Nelja
5 = Viisi
6 = Kusi

In!! = sasaan
Out!! = Ulos
Hello = Moi
Roger = Selva

If you fly with a Japanese group instead of saying "roger" you say "Hah!"

Thanks man!

That is sooo cool.

Kanttori, are these real words or is he trying to get me to say I am a homosexual rhinoceros with plaid underpants in Finnish?

WHY? If it was better then why didnt the US keep it and modify it the way the Finns did? The Brewsers from a particular manufactuer were very unreliable and always having machanical problems, which do we have here? So, was the Brewster as tuff as the FM-2? The FM-2 was lighter and not as tuff as the F4F but even in AH, the FM-2 is still a tank!! I doubt it . :(

I vote no subs, if it aint available, dont sub it.
