Some tips, IMHO,
Rename your old AH folder
Install the new version
Copy the settings folder from the old to the new install
you should have all your views, Keyboard, and jstick configs, and the individual plane settings

I have never had a problem just installing the new versions. Every think still set up the same when i run the new one.

I've never either but it was just a suggestion for people that have had strange problems.
