The disk came with my Cougar, and I never installed it. Am I missing the boat here?

What the hell is IL-2? Is it an online flight sim like AH, or a boxed sim with set missions, and alot of crappy AI?

Are there the same number of planes as AH? What kind of planes do they have?

Time is very short for me, so I ask these questions, as I do not have time to waste learning a new game that may not be worth the effort.

oh by the way.. it's a boxed/online game (offline and online) that rocks

It's a really good game...Here's another thread with good Q&A

You need a pretty good computer/graphics card to get the full effect though.

If you want to play with/against others I would suggest getting HyperLobby.

I think the most heard complaint is the lack of a MA, log in, instant action arena, although Hyperlobby with help.

I dont like on-line one bit, but for me it is a lot of fun in single player because of all the cool wierd planes - P11c vs I-153 is always fun.

Muckmaw what the hell ya doing!?!??! you had a FREE flight sim and you did'nt install it? Are you mad!??!?!

Seriously though YES! install it it's a wonderful offline game and quite good fun online also. Download the free online server browser Hyperlobby and be sure to visit the official site and download new skins missions and most importantly the patches to take you to v1.2 which you can find here Download patch 1.1a first then install patch 1.2.

Overly restrictive views in it though which adds artificial difficulty in maintaining SA.
