how do i check my mic?
« on: January 05, 2003, 11:41:13 AM »
Replaced my cheapo stand alone mic (which worked well) and headphones with a headphones/mic set combo. I can't get anyone to answer me online H2H during a game. Is there a way to test the mic myself? The usual mic setting are checked including the boost.

If you go to Acessories/Entertainment... there is a program called "Sound Recorder". It's usually the easiest way to test your mike...

Also, in Control Panels, Sound and Audio Device Properties (also called Sound and Multimedia) under the "Voice" tab, there is a button "Test Hardware" or "Voice Test" that will do a in depth test of your microphone.

Hope that helps!

Thanks. I luv u man! Looks like the combo mic has to be practically in my mouth to pick up. Not what I was told to expect. Will chk other settings. The old mic works fine. Must be disabled in H2h?

After testing the mic it seems that the pickup sucks. Even the old mic which was fine even last week now sounds as bad as the new one. I upgraded to DX9 yesterday and wondered if there's any relation?  Thanks for the tips boyz. Boost is checked. What is PCM? It's checked elsewhere.
