F4u-4 is greatly overprised.
« on: October 06, 2001, 05:23:00 PM »
At the moment from all perk planes this one is the most overprised. I am not a fan of hogs, so not frustrated or something, but rather really currious about its price. After trying it offline and flying it in MA I can not see the reason of making it so expensive. I can even barely see the reason why it is perked at all.

Interesting to hear oppinions.

flies/lands off a carrier, faster, better E retention. You'd have to fly a dhog alot and the step into one of these to feel the difference.

...and it holds E like nothing (except N1K2 of course) I've seen before, pulled up from a 180Mph climb, made a loop, got behind a TBM and wasted him from 400 yards, BOOOOM!

It is sufficient.

Faster than a P-51, one of best climbing US planes currently, good E retention, good firepower, superb high speed handling, superb roll rates, carrier plane, very good ordanace load... whew.. it is almost like a 'perfect' plane. Only problem is its range is a bit limited.

Compared with Tempest: at alt, it is faster than a Tempest, and I believe it is one of the fastest planes even under its optimum operations altitude. High speed handling way way better than a Tempest, rolls better than a Tempy and climbs better than a Tempy.

Though overall fire power is weaker, ammo load is way higher than a Tempy, carries much more ordanance.

Well, maybe they ought just get rid of perk points all together, and find a different way to limit the uber planes. I've been flying a couple months in AH, and I don't think I'll ever get an F4U-4!

Solomo,

Strafe trains and trucks.

I just killed two trains and an La-7 in the Mosquito and landed 18 perk points.

if you been flying for 2 months and dont have 60 perks something wrong.

get out of the niki and into a 205/g2 or any other plane with a eny value of 30+.

also hunt planes like nikis spits f4 etc you get perks quick.

also do some jabo...........

I do fly the F4U-1D a lot.  On initial observations, the F4U-4 is overpriced.

Solomo,

Don’t worry about the perks.  The more time online and experience the perk points will start to come.  Fly what you want and how you want, just have fun doing it  ;).

Oh, and Wotan, excellent job of criticism

i think all this weird perk things is going way to high nothing higher than 50 perkis should be here.

Think of it this way...

If you are such a bad pilot that you can't shoot down anything to get perk points, maybe you just aren't a good fighter pilot.

Therefore, you should train. Read a manual and combat tactics book to get a clue of what to do in your A/C.

How many WWII pilots just jumped into a cockpit and started fighting without any training? Maybe a lot, but how many of them shot down anything, and how many of them lived? Probably not that many.

So what am I saying?

Don't whine, practice. Don't say it's unfair, learn to fight. Don't say it should all be free planes with no need to earn anything, become a better pilot.

The best planes in short supply were usually given to those who could best utilize them. Not one day flight school dweebs that have no clue.

All...Not everyone has a bank of perks. I have never had more than 400. at the moment, I have only 340. I have been collecting and spending since the inception of the perk program.
