No, just a "Soap Box" Political/Religion Forum would suffice.

I think making new Forums is only going to lead to the end of the forums myself. After all if there are 100 different ones to read the odds are you will not read any of them. It is like having a TV with 5 channels or 500. When you have 5 you know all about every program. When you have 500 you hardly turn it on. I know because I have 500 channels.

Regarding political threads. If you see a topic you do not like then don't read it.

If you thread gets bumped off the first page then bump it back.

Easy.

Why ask HTC to change everything just because you do not like some of the threads?

Oh yes, the HTC BBS will collapse, and we’ll all wait in the checksix forums for them to load.

HTC wont change everything, they will just make a rational and easy BBS addition for political and religious topic based posts. It will enhanse the offtopic forum topics.

Of course a few will feel slighted that they don’t have the attention of everyone, but I think that’s Animals point. You don’t. Again, see above.

Its just thread burying nonsense to the Offtopic. And if it's so viable, it will get read.

LOL I can see these discussions are really important for your daily routine.

Why the attitude?

I have already said what I think about your idea. I think it is a really bad idea, and I cannot understand why you are bothered by the fact that people want to talk about different things than you. All you have to do is not click on the threads you dont want to read.

wtf the idea is absurd, its just you trying to shove your opinion down on all our throats. "Animal doesnt want to talk politics, so all you politics talkers go to a different forum, "Animal doesnt want to talk about religion, so all you people who wants to do that go away to another forum." etc etc.

Maybe the General forum should be split up into several sub forums too? LW whiners forum, Spitdweeb forum, perk whiners forum...? Because I can guarantee you that there are many more people sick and tired of the perk whiners than there are people upset like you with "uninteresting" topics in the O club.

Get off your damn horse. If you dont want to read about something, then stay out of the thread. You have no right to tell others what they should be allowed to discuss in here.

Why don't we just make say 100 forums, each with its own specialty? Then we'd each pick and choose.

And lots would be dead.

There'd have to be a critical mass of posts for it to be worthwhile. The way I see it, today people post stuff in the O' Club they want to talk about. Perhaps we should establish the possible consequences and likelihoods - a cost/benefit analysis - before we venture into forum-splitting.

I have a dozen or so forums I participate in -  everything from sky/scuba diving to philosophy and evolution. I see no need to split a well functioning forum in two. If one visits the O' Club once every two days, one can still have a good overview over the topics at hand.

And one can elect NOT to take part in threads that aren't interesting. Seems to me the problem isn't the forum, but posters :).

I say 'no'. I like it the way it is.

Actually, this is wrong.

There are more political posts on the o'club because the same group of people post MORE than the rest.

If you look closely at those threads, its the same small group of people making them and keeping them alive, by hundreds of posts at a time.

Its not that more people like those threads, is that the minority that do likes them, post so much more than the rest, hence you get a forum that belongs to 8 people who like to debate the same subjects, and the many others, simply get washed away.

Help me out here. The "many others" get "washed away" because?

Because people don't post in them, I'm thinking. Would that be why they sink so fast?

Or is there some other reason why a thread that is supposedly interesting to a lot of people doesn't draw posters?

Are you saying that once a thread drops off the first page BBS users can't find it if they're truly interested?
