graphics engine on AH2
« on: February 20, 2003, 06:31:45 PM »
is the graphics engie of AH2 gonna be supperior than that of combat flight simulator 2 or same as combat flight simulator 2?

*note that combat flight simulator 2 works very smoothly (way smoother than the original AH) on my celeron 700 384 megs ram with 64 megs ati radeon 7500 PCI

Neh ... I'm familiar with the narrowing forward deck. It still looks stretched. I bet a Sturmi could take off from that thing. ;)

i hope the system requirements for AH 2 would be the same as the combat flight simulator 2 (recomended 400mhz Pentium II and a 32 meg V-ram)

Hate to tell ya .... :(

"Our benchmark system for AH2 is roughly a PIII 900 with a GeForce 2. That is the design limit we are using for nice playability. The minimum system will fall under that, but we won’t be able to give specifics until we get further down the development and testing road. (But[/b])The new graphics engine in AH2 will be much more video card dependent, so even if you have a slower CPU, a better video card may be all you need to upgrade ." (So .. who knows)

From the FAQ sticky permanently on top, btw.

Going back to the graphics engine, I would like to see multiple monitor support. Either supporting up to 4 monitors or, more simply, having the game on one monitor and the clipboard and chat on another.

I would also like to see AH2 take advantage of SMP and Hyperthreading.

I am slightly concerned that HTC may be pitching their reference platform too low. Perhaps HTC should poll their users as to their actual platform? Reading this BBS, I get the feeling that I'm one of the slower ones running at 1 GHz.

well AH 2 should look better than combat flight simulator if their new sys reqs is 500MHZ P-III and a 64mb v-card

* note that CFS2 only needs 366mhz P-2 and a 32 mb v-ram to get best frame rates.

Actually, CFS2 can look much better than that, it just looks like on those screens the res and textures are on lowest quality.  When turned all the way up, CFS2 has some really cool special effects which i would like to see in AHII.  It has beautiful fire, smoke trails, and it looks awsome when the engine explodes.

One of the best parts of CFSII is that it is really smooth (as long as your comp is not 200mhz or something) even though it has some great effects.
