i have a hollow metal hockey stick. the kind you can buy a replacement end. how do i get the old one out and how do i keep the new one in?

is it an aluminum stick? most pro-shops carry heaters that melt the glue to pull the blade out. then you just heat up the new blade with glue on it, put it in, and let it harden.

if it's a synergy stick, you'll need to saw the actual blade off to get at the shaft of the stick. despite what some think, a broken synergy is not a dead synergy. lots of people i know take and reuse their broken ones. (although you'll never get the same weight-displacement that a new one is so good for)

Use a blow torch to heat the metal - this will turn the glue holding the blade in back into a liquid.

Slide old blade out.

Re-warm metal on blade end of stick, heat glue on stick blade, insert.

Set firmly and and let the stick and blade sit for a few minutes.

Viola.

you can also use a blow drier but it has to be one of those 80's-bighair mega-heat jobbies.

get a real stick..

its a nike aluminum stick. i dunno the name of it tho. its yellow and black. i used to use real sticks, the all wood ones....but i didnt like throwing away a 10% broken stick. know what i mean?

the people at my pro shop are lazy. heck, very few people at the ice rink now how to sharpen skates. so i'll be lucky if the damn shop is open. i know they have a heat thing for saktes, dunno bout the stick heater tho. hope they have one. or i'll be SOL unless one of my team mates brings another stick, which they usually do. i did that last week.

ahh. i love hockey.....if only i wasnt out of shape

ya gotta be careful with some of the newer sticks. i had a mission flyweight that seemed aluminum but i got stopped right before melting it with a blowtorch by someone who knew better.

not sure about the nike. if it's truly metal then blowtorchin it would be ok, like saur said

Nike is fine to use blow torch on. Pick a Canadian out of the sewers up there , I,m sure he'd help ya out for a bottle of wine.

I didn't mean a wooden one.. althought that'd classify as 'real'.. I kinda meant a composite..
aluminum is too heavy IMO and doesn't flex or snap as well as a composite stick.
You'll get better snappers and wristers with composite.
not to mention they are usually lighter

They maybe lighter, but Ive never been able to snap one of dem "fancy-shmancy" sticks like I can with a good solid wood stick.

Remember the old Titan's? Man were they great sticks... must have weighed 50 pounds each.

really? I think I get better snap from a comp stick..
I think I must be too heavy on the wooden ones.. they end up breaking
