I've been playing 90% of the time on a laptop for the past 2 years (travel like 300 days a year)--could usually manage frames in high teens...not much for fighters, but tolerable for everything else. (If I get a hotel with T1 line..game is MUCH more playable..frames stay near same..but puter doesnt hiccup) Anyhow..something has changed (seems like it was before Trinity..cant remember) Logged on a friday evening..frames were barely double digits...just sitting in tower in middle of nowhere, no sounds..smoke,etc., frames go up to 16-17...dip down to 8-9..then back up to previous--netstatus usually smooth..high 200's. Am baffled--the thing has only 8 meg..but at 800x600 here and in windows...go to shift F3 when things get busy..game still ok. Alas...isnt now. Anyone have any ideas? (Win ME...Toshiba p3-800...256 ram...compression OFF in modem settings...directx 9) Im gonna have to quit the dang game if I cant figure something out...just isnt playable anymore. (stupid office wont see clear to cough up 2 G's fer new one, lol)

I used to play on a dell lattitude and pulled 60fps on 800X600 16bit. Was very playable, The new dell labtops have P4s in them now too, mine had P3 and only 8mb video card lol but it did work. When the new version of AH came out seemed little harder on my pc though. framerate still in the 60s but game was kindof glitchy depending on numbers around me. I had all back ground proceses off and cleaned it weakly

WOW..60...Im happy camper with 18-20..anyhow...I tried loggin in last night with Aol-hell instead of Earthlink---numbers LOOKED about the same...except frames stayed consistently around 18-20..and the game was quite playable..at least as much as it ever is. Apparently Earthlink has somethin going on thats not centered in any one town..as I'm in a different town every couple-three days. Gonna use AOL for time being...might try downloading MSN..its the only other national outfit I know of besides ATT..and I KNOW they suck--thanx tho
