Due to numerous activities competing for my time and attention, I must regrettably announce my intention to step down from my position as a Combat Theater Staff member. I will remain in place until we can find a replacement, so submit your resumes to Pyro or Skuzzy.
It has been my great pleasure to serve this community for the last three years, first as a member of the Campaign Managers’ Corps (part of the initial cadre), then in the capacity of CT Staffer. I was privileged to be involved in the rebirth of the CT (I’m the last active member of the original CT staff). I have watched it go from rather tepid beginnings, with a primetime high of 25 people on-line, to today where we regularly see anywhere from two to four times that many. While I like to think my fellow CT staffers and I had some small part in that success, I believe the greater credit belongs with the map-makers, skinners, and (most especially) you…the CT “elitists”;).
While I will no longer speak with the “blue voice of God” on-line (reference to the blue-colored CM text radio channel), and will miss those “phenomenal, god-like powers,” I am not leaving the AH community altogether. I will continue to fly in the CT and post on this board…just not as often as before. I am not stepping down for any negative reasons, either. A combination of family obligations, a software development effort of my own, and the simple trials and challenges of life are telling me I need to cut the pie in fewer slices. I just feel I can’t do the job justice right now, and that some fresh blood will keep the CT prospering. The indications are that the CT will likely survive the upgrade to Aces High 2; I sincerely hope that is the case. AH2 promises to provide a unique on-line experience that I plan to indulge in, but I will still crave the less structured environment of the CT when I feel the need for a quick kill or three.
I have really enjoyed working with Brady, MrFork, and my old friend Jarbo. I have great confidence they will continue to provide excellent service. I’ve also enjoyed working with the mapmakers, both the CM Terrain team and the free-lancers. With few exceptions, they and the community at large have been very supportive, providing feedback, encouragement, and even praise and gratitude. It’s been a great experience all in all. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Sabre
