So this has been going on for weeks now, DB603 and I looking for each other in the MA. It has always been close, but we never actually engaged in a fight.
We finally meet the other day, DB603 in a FW190 and me in the P-51D (of course) He is low at a field and lands due to low fuel... I radio him saying I am heading to A2 area.
Later I see a low 190. Thinking it is him, I dive in to attack. The 190 breaks and then I see a 109 close on my six. I try to evade, but not enough E. Score 1 for DB603.
Today, DB is by 49. We set up to meet at 13k and go 1-v-1 and guns cold on the initial merge.
This time, DB is in a 109-G2. We start the engagement about Co-E and I find myself pulling into his six and then making a short burst as we went inverted. After the next turn, DB went under my nose and I lost him.
Looking around frantically, I finally see him again about 2k away. I turn in to engage again and almost have a good enough angle to shoot as he passes under on the merge again.
Now we are in a turning fight and each time are coming around nose-to-nose. Neither one of us fires, but the passes are CLOSE. On the third or fouth pass, I see DB's 109 coming in right at me, I kick the rudder but too late. My wing is chopped and I am going down.
DB killed me without firing a shot.
Now I owe you 2 kills DB603.
It was kind of fun, having a rivalry with another pilot that I never actually got into combat with. Now the combat has occured, but I think the rivalry will continue.
Everytime I shoot up a knight 190 or 109, I think to myself.. maybe this time it will be DB. One of these times it will be
