Anyone else have trouble with zone alarm causing AH to freeze for 5 seconds every once in a while.  Disapears when I turn it off.

I know how to get it to run, but when its running AH tends to pause in game every once in a while.

Yeppers. I have zone alarm too and it causes lags and short holds on both online games I play. No the second one is not AW, WWII online or quake.

I disable zonealarm when I am playing, sigh.

Using ZA pro, experiencing no game freezes but i use it at medium security when playing usually.
I can also allocate all required UDP ports etc just for AH and play at max security if i wish.
I do not believe you have the option of allocating specific ports with the free version.

I'm using ZA, but I've not seen any problems like those listed.  ZA has only ever locked up when I first run a freshly patched or updated AH.

Are you running the latest ZA - I think they released another one about 2 months ago?

Cheers

Edit - Are you using RW also?  I used to get lockups, freezes, etc from it

Ditto (more or less) - I'm using the freebie ZA at medium security.  No freeze problems encountered.  I suspect there is something else running in the background that is interacting with ZA and your setup.

I've used Zone Alarm for around 6 months and Zone Alarm Pro for a month and not experienced any lag caused or freezing during gameplay in AH or whatever else I play online, judging by the responses here I'd look elsewhere for the culprit on your system.
