No news on condition of crew. Pentagon confirms aircraft down. Rescue ops already underway.

Enemy fire, crew error, or aircraft failure?
Hope they get them out safe.

Cnn reporting they took fire but did not specify what actually took the aircraft down.

I hope they made it to the ground in one piece. It'll be hillarious when they stumble back across the lines with 100 Iraqi soldiers in toe...all wishing to surrender to them.

MSNBC says the AH-64 was able to take off again and that the crew is OK.

it's a single finger salute
btw that's only unless it's not directed to Furious, then I'm just addressing him and not flipping him off.

Basically Kanth is flippin you the bird.
And helicopters certainly do not suck, ask any Vietnam or Korean war vet who got lifted out of a hot LZ by one with life threatening wounds.

well, 2 of them are already written off in less than 24hours. Military helicopters crash regularly when not in combat too, almost every week one pops up in the news. Either the equipment, the maintenance people or the Army pilots suck!!!

Udet, trying to think of a nice way to say this but can not so "You are a sweet moron".
Obviously your only experience in a helicopter is the kiddie ride in front of a Walmart. Your observations are extremely insulting to our soldiers.
A) We have excellent helicopters in the military. Helicopters have a lot more parts than a fixed wing aircraft therefore they are more prone to breakdown.
B) The Army helicopter ground crews are highly trained and work in extremely difficult conditions. They work close to the front lines and not at airbases. They are tireless and do a fantastic job considering the number of hours the aircraft are in the air.
OBTW in case you forgot "You are a sweet moron".
C) Flying a helicopter is very difficult. It one of the most dangerous positions in the military. The environment that the aircraft and crews must work in is very dangerous. Imagine (pretend you have more than 2 brain cells) playing AH with a max ceiling of 100 ft and most of your flying is at night. Lots of pilots with be frustrated with the number of times they contact the turf. Helicopter pilots work in a very harsh and unforgiving environment and they can hold their heads high for their skills. Helicopter pilots work close to the turf and sometimes it bites you (not many things to collide with at 20K)
Friendly reminder "You are a sweet moron"
Just my own 2 cents worth.
