Looking for a new case
« on: March 26, 2003, 11:53:10 AM »
Here is the one I want but I don't want to spend $182 from NewEgg. That is the lowest I have found anywhere on this case. Does someone else have a good line on cases and are they willing to share the wealth. :D

I bought my Chieftec/Antec case from http://www.buyxtremegear.com

After two weeks of not getting it (the website said 7-10 business days to ship), I gave them a call and they told me it was on backorder.  I was pretty pissed.  I squeaked at them pretty good, and three or four days later I had my case.  They even upgraded it to a front-USB model with a side panel case fan (probably becasue they were out of the one I had ordered).  Cost me $35 + $17 shipping.  No power supply.

Very happy with the case, and they redeemed themselves for not giving me a call to tell me it was backordered.  Can't beat the price either.

Their cheapo case page (looks like they're in the process of redoing their website)  http://store.yahoo.com/buyxg/chiefsxcaswi.html

My case (price has gone up $5 since I bought it)

And their rating on ResellerRatings.com:

Thanks guys. I have built a few systems for friends who bought Antec cases and I like the way they are built. I am looking for something that is a bit bigger than my 4.5 year old Enlight case though and would like to have a little more room and air flow.

Have this cas too. I like the slide out drawer and it has plenty of room inside. A very good case.

Played the odds and I am going to grab that Cooler Master case I posted. I talked with a guy locally about the different cases after work today. Plus I went and actually picked one up. The Cooler Master was significantly lighter than the Antec but I did like the pull out tray on the Lian-Li case that you posted there Animal. Also going to custom paint the case with some "extra" DuPont Imron Metallic Blue we have left from a paint job we did here at work. Then I am going to get a buddy to paint a Corsair sort of wrapping around the case front with the name of my plane on it as well.

Here are a few inside shots of it.

I'd suggest the Samcheer PC-88 case, but they no longer make it. The replacement appears to be the Samcheer PC-82.
