Strike Flights Mission Orders
Mission Brief: The Strike Flights purpose is to eliminate the enemy ability to re-supply the forward units and airbases in the area. Once you accomplish your primary orders listed below you are free to engage any enemy aircraft you happen to encounter. Most off all remember to check your fuel usage and try to make it home.
Strike Flight CO’s run through your flight to your target area before our flight on Friday. This way you should be able to determine the best route and altitude for fuel settings according to your mission. For a baseline you can refer to the one’s I listed above.
Strike Flight #1 Marine Air Wing (Fw-190F-8 and Bf-109G-10, Fw-190A-5) Total between 16-20 pilots
Target Listing: Small town south west of A70 (6.11.1 area) Meeting place of Allied Command in that area.
Launch Airfield: A34
Mission Load out: Split your force equally between F-8’s and G-10’s or A-5’s for escort duty. The F-8 section will be responsible for eliminating the town at the target area. The escorts are needed because you will be flying into an area with an Active Allied airfield where there is thought to be a large formation area for enemy strike groups. Eliminate all structures at the village the enemy has taken.
Strike Flight #2 VF-17 Jolly Rogers (Fw-190F-8); 457th BG Fait Accompli (Fw-190F-8) Total between 8-12 pilots
Target Listing: Refinery in (6.7.8 area) and Train north east of refinery (6.7.8 area)
Launch Airfield: A40
Mission Load out: You will be flying in a strike package only with Fw-190F-8’s. You’re mission is to hit the Refinery and the re-supply train that runs to it. The train will be coming into the refinery from the NE about 3 minutes flying time from the Refinery. You are to locate the refinery and then follow the tracks back out to the train location. Do not attack the Refinery till the train has been destroyed. Attack the train first.
Strike Flight #3 Shillelagh (Fw-190F-8); Rogue Squadron (Fw-190F-8) Total between 15-21 pilots
Target Listing: Train North West of Barracks Factory (7.8.5 area) runs along river between A51 and the Barracks Factory. And Train west of Radar Factory (7.6.5 area)
Launch Airfield: A40
Mission Load out: You both have identical targets. The trains will be running re-supply into Barracks and Radar areas. You will have to locate the factory complexes while not engaging those same areas. Once you locate the factories search for the train tracks and follow them until you locate the train. Generally the trains should be within 5 minutes flying time of the factory area. Attack the trains first and if you have ordinance and fuel left over then return and engage the factory complexes but RTB if fuel enters the critical stage of less than 45% in your main tank.

Defense Flights Mission Orders
Mission Brief: The Defense Flights purpose is to deny the attacking enemy any chance of hitting our areas that the High Command has outlined for you below. You are to eliminate the enemy as quickly as possible and maximize your chance of returning to base.
CO’s Each flight has a “defense listing”. In that defense listing is your task for the frame. It is up to you to determine how to cover that defensive task.
Locate and use the nearest active field to your defensive zones.
It is suggested that you carry drop tanks on all flights. Also if you think you can rotate aircraft through refueling in stages then do so. This way you are all not off defense at the same time and you are able to have the maximum amount of aircraft on scene for defense.
Take some time and run through your flight so you get an idea of how long it takes to get to your area and loiter. This way you can have your 2nd flight coming up about halfway through your loiter so they are on station as you RTB.
Defense Flight #1 Arabian Knights (3 Me-262’s and Bf-109G-10 or Fw-190A-5); =Groverats= (Fw-190A-8) Total between 23-30 pilots
Defense Listing: Train south of AAA Factory (9.14.2 area) and Train south west of Ammo Factory (9.14.5 area)
Defense Flight #2 DAMNED (Bf-109G-10 or Fw-190A-5); III/Jabostaffel (3 Me-262’s and Fw-190A-5’s) Total between 11-16 pilots
Defense Listing: Truck Convoy south of V24 (10.12.7 area) and Truck Convoy North West of V30 (10.11.8 area)
Defense Flight #3 Nightmares VMF-101 (Bf-109G-10 or Fw-190A-5); Da Muggers (Bf-109G-10 or Fw-190A-5) Total between 15-21 pilots
Defense Listing: Train north east of Refinery (10.7.1 area)
Fuel and Cruise Settings for Fw-190F-8
This was done by VF-17 Intelligence officer Ltblogs. We don’t have a tremendous amount of experience in the Fw-190F-8 so he put this together at my request.
I did only one test:
Offline, Rhine Map, Fuel Burn Multiplier 1.5, winds SE 10 MPH
FW190F8 - 1 x 500kg, 4 x 50kg and full ammo and internal fuel
Altitude 5k take-off: Flat out w/ two notches of flaps and full power climb for 1 minute
Climb out: Full RPM and 40" MAP
Cruise at 5,000 ft: 30" MAP and 2100 RPM, Indicated speed 170-80 MPH
Results: Total flight time to dry tanks - 65 minutes
Tank Cumulative Time
Auxiliary Empty 10 minutes
Forward 1/2 22
Forward Empty 34
Aft 1/2 48
Aft 1/4 57
Aft Empty 65
Notes:
These settings get you only 6-7 sectors one-way. I took off at A10 in upper corner of Map and was one sector from target when the engine quit. I can't say this is a max range setting.
Someone will have to tell me if I was riding a tail wind or running into a headwind based on a SE setting in the control panel. (We think this wind setting was giving him a NW push. If anyone else can confirm or refute that please let us know ASAP.)
Most of my test was done on auto-pilot. The plane can very gently be turned at the cruise settings. Good enough for recon. Anything harsher should be down at max RPM and probably at least 35" MAP.
As the tanks empty you can wind back a few hundred RPM and maintain altitude.
