a SAD moment in the CT
« on: June 15, 2003, 12:46:26 AM »
Just logged intro the CT to find 11 guys landgrabbing...was literally 11 on 1 side and a single guy on the other just padding score...if I was in charge I'd ban em for a month.

And the fellow who's name starts with VETT

But I'm sure there were others before and after.  I logged on shortly after humble's post and these two were basically moving base-to-base with a couple of panzers & a friend in an M3, laying waste to the towns & taking the fields while the 1 or 2 other Soviets online at the time were dogfighting with 1 or two axis.

Whatever floats your boat, I suppose... as long as you don't reset the map.
But it's kind of a drag when they swipe your airfield out from under you while you're dogfigting on a light fuel load.

Yes I saw the thread last night and instantly had to jump into CT and check things out. It was 11 - 1 and soon I was only one left.

Who else but the 325th squad!! I'm serious there were about 6 of them playing as whoopeeed heathen communists.  When I asked why nobody on the communist side wanted to switch they told me it had something to do with airpower or something.  I then proceeded to kill 4 of their vulching fighter and bombers with my Ju87 Stuka. Then I went to another ungauarded field and shot down some more with an Ostwind. :)

Striker Squadron.  Busy running the map at this hour.

Axis Dar is dead. (baaaad thing for a big map with a small population).
Low ack lethality (normally a good thing) allows panzers to have free reign flattening towns unopposed.  EZ to take a base solo.

It's really kind of frustrating, if you're not into the uncontested land-grab thing or anxious to spend your limited online time jaboing suicide tanks.

But what'cha gonna do?

Disable field capture in the CT?

Reset the arena every day just before the number start climbing
during the middle-evening US CDT hours?

I'd prefer not top have GVs at all in the CT, to tell you the truth.   Always disappointing when I log in when 10-15 folks are on, hoping I'll help build population momentum, and then find half of the opposing side are manning GVs (or field ack).    For me, the MA with all its problems is preferable to dealing with spawn-point campers and manned field ack.

Well the cms can set the arena so the map room takes more then 10 goons to be captured, they can set field ack hardness and down time to make field capture require a joint effort. They can make hq tough so it takes areal effort to knock down.

They can do any number of things.

In the beginning there was no field capture in the ct. There was a long thread in which folks voiced what they wanted. The majority wanted feild capture.

My reason to post was simple...if it gets out of hand it makes the whole balance and purpose of map (and CT) change. I certainly respect those who value the "strategic" aspects of the game...and if you can cobble togeather the resources to capture a base or 2 in a 10 on 7 or 12 on 6 head count more power to you....but I had visions of coming back to a map with 80% of the bases taken.

I've been grouchy enough that staying would just have led to an overly harsh exchange...since I've ready let this bunch know what I think of em:)

I think you did the right thing, humble.    Maybe its worth kicking
around some of these alternatives so field captures can be preserved, but  just made difficult enough so a empty arena can't be porked be a few people during the low population times.

Agreed.
Kantori built a beautiful map that includes a very well-thought-out ground war element.  No need to toss that, even for the ct.

But as Batz notes there are apparently some settings tweaks that could discourage some of the 'army of one' landgrabbing.

Just a thought.

I have posted it many times before. NO BASE CAPTURE..Harden Act for no Vulches...and/or CM sets capture each day based on 1940s dates. This is the Combat Theater...not the Grunt Theater.....but untill then, I will do what the F@#* I want! Its my $14  oh yeah, do away with the score board. Hopefully AHII will eliminate some of this.

Saturday night I was on and the sides were even. It was peak time eastern from 8pm till about 3am. I captured 8 bases, yelled at eagler for killing me so much...and I could go on and on and on and on but we have all been there before.

So thats what happened to the CT, logged in today and saw that almost all the bases were russian .

Well with KS off, numbers ballance is really a non-issue . If you see a band of players being voracious real estate dweebs, wack 'em .

Okay this stuff has to stop... I am so sick of when someone thinks the CT is getting milked ran it's the 325th.  As far as I am conserned, hey they pay their $15.00 a month, so if they want to do a land grab now and again.... who cares...  I am so tired of this CT elitists crap anymore.  If you don't have 10 years of sim flying under your belt all you are is a dweeb and you don't know any better...  Tonight I got ganged by tons of axis pilots... and didn't say anything but I was tired of getting gangbanged and left.  I am also tired of the negative comments in the buffer when someone doesn't fly your fight and you get called a dweeb, or if a friendly Pt is in the area... War is hell, get over it... We all have to deal with it sometimes...   I am sure in ww2 all the pilots were crying about Pt boats, balanced sides, and etc.... Life isn't perfect...  so we all have to deal with it...  I am sure there will be MANY comments on this reply... so have fun... I am done with this UBB anymore... just a complete waste of time to even put anything down on here... all you do is get back lash on it....
