Friday the 27th
« on: June 25, 2003, 03:18:33 PM »
This Friday I am going to rerun an old set up of mine from last summer/fall using ASW's recently updated Libbya map, it is a suto 41 plane set featuring the C.202 and the P40E primarly with the following plane set to add some depth, while not compleatly accurate historicaly it  does help to give a feal for the time and place and the match up's are good fun:)

Axis:

C.202
Me 109E-4
Me 110C-4
JU-88
JU-87
C47
The M's
Panzer IV

Allies:

P40E
Huricane MK I
Boston
C47
The M's
Panzer IV

I highly recomend the Following series BTW to anyone interested in Italian Planes:

P40E will dominate the setup... Replace it with the P40B and this will be very cool...

Except C202 is faster, climbs, turns and accelerates better. Check the numbers (was surprised myself). P40E has better guns, but it is hardly uberplane with this planeset.

GRUNHERZ,

IIRC, the last time this was run the C.202 dominated the fight if anything can be said to have dominated.

Yes, I know, there is something wrong when the C.202 is the best fighter available, but that is what I recall happening.

Could we have the 109F too - was widely used in the North Africa arena....

i was hoping for the 109f, too... it's a good match up vs the p40e along with the 202.   but the 109f can really tear up the hurriI... and honestly, i think the 109f would totally dominate in terms of top-end and climb... and with the gondolas, firepower...

overall plane stats for that tour - CT 8:

c202 334-290 vs p40e
c202 185-135 vs hurriI
109e 202-275 vs p40e
109e 332-329 vs hurriI
110c4 199-162 vs hurriI
110c4 97-219 vs p40e

axis 1349-1410 allies.... slight edge to allies, due in part to the horrible way p40e tore up the 110c4.

the way for the c202/109e to deal with the p40e is to basically gang up on them due to their relatively weaks guns vs the p40e's ruggedness. this setup is all about tactics...

the hurrI/109e is a decent matchup.

Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.

That's kind of a vicious circle.  You add the Bf109F-4 and then you've got to add the concurrent Hurricane Mk IIc and there goes the C.202 and P-40E usage out the window.

I think the setup looks fine as it is and encourages the use of some of the rarely used kites.

109F would ruin the intent of the setup - too poweful. I still think the P40B would be better - the 6 50cals ere damn annoying in this low gunpower setup plus P40E speed, climb, handling, and firepower really makes the 109e almost useless.  P40B is more balanced.

The only thing to worry about in a MC202 is a HO pass vs a P-40, and thats it. It will fly rings around it otherwise, unless you drop down and turn all day.

Dominate the setup? I could only agree if the 202 wasnt present, even then a 109E is not a slouch.
