BIOS settings
« on: July 02, 2003, 03:12:58 PM »
I have recently upgraded my vid card to an MX440 SE.  I downloaded their latest XP drivers and installed them.  I have disabled the drivers for the integrated vid card that came with the computer, HP 514n, 2.2 ghz intel chip, Windows XP Home.

It was suggested that I need to change BIOS settings to further disable the old drivers and card.

How do I go about doing this?

When you boot the machine press escape or delete, whichever button gets you into your bios setup (depends on motherboard). Then in one of the settings - possibly under video, you may see an option to disable the onboard video. Some motherboards do not require this though. SO the best way is to get the motherboard manual from the manufacturors website. It will tell you if this is so.

Messing with your bios can make your machine unbootable but normally all you have to do is go back in and reverse your changes to restore things

Hope this helps but without knowing your motherboard and its bios software it is hard to give better advice.
