Thanks.    I was in that P-47D-30.  Got the pic from film later.  For more, see here:

That was Friday night.  Bishops were on a roll, taking field after field.  Of course, there were something like 55 bish to 30 knights or something like that.  It was awesome diving in, rocketing the tank, and screaming out through the smoke from a burning hangar at 500mph on the deck.  Flew over the friendly armored column charging into the field... they'd have one less panzer to worry about.

Miserable, but I like the layout, just need more distances to avoid seeing getting killed by the guy you just killed, or an endless supply of incoming eni fighter.

I can definitely sympathize with this point.  It is possible to go in and get kills in a 30 plane furball though.  You just have to be extremely careful... set hard deck limit and adhere to it.  Leave a guy high for cover.  56th flew a sweep into one such furball last night where we were severely outnumbered, but we scored 2 kills, 3 assists, and all rtb'd safely.

You've definitely got to be a lot choosier picking your fights in this terrain.  I'll be happier when we go back to a terrain where the fields are more spread out, but it is possible to have fun here and develop tactics.

I did not think I would like the beta terrain at first but it provided for more diverse play and it was easier to use all the ground vehicle types.  I think the "canyon lands" should be made a permanent part of the main arena, but not overwhelming in size.  I liked hugging the canyon walls next to a vbase in the M16 to catch the unweary.  Diversity is the key to more fun.

Canyons rock!!!
Last night I had an Ostwind shooting at my Spit.  So I climbed away at 10,000 feet and went out of sight...  Then dove behind a mountain, got into the canyon, and came back at him NOE from the opposite direction at about 400 mph.  He never saw me.  The first thing he heard or saw was my 20 mm blowing his turret to hell.
