HTC; your position on carbombing, offmapping?
« on: May 11, 2001, 12:13:00 PM »
In dicussions on ch1 and on the board, those that really like offmap bombing, carbombing and other dweeby gaming the game tactics defend themselves by saying:

"If HTC did not condone it, why do they ALLOW us to do it? Why can we do it? QED".

To settle it once and for all, do you think offmap flying is a valid thing? Or carbombing adds something extra to the game?

Your response will either kill the dweebs or kill the rule nazi's like me, but it would help to settle the issue  .

Q?  i know about off map flying but what is CARBOMBING??  never heard of that one.

I think off mapping is a kinda off thing to do, i do remeber one of my squaddies though, we were both flying tiffys towards a feild just inside the map boundary i was flying level with him and when we reached the field i was waiting for him to turn, but he didnt, after about 4 mins of me litterary shouting at him thought the squad channel to WAKE up or come back from the beer fridge, i decided that he was otherwise engauged at thing his end and turned back to the map, after about 15 mins i looked at the map and saw this single orange dot about half the map distace again off the map lol, either he had got booted and his aircraft just kept on flying, or he eventually came back to his keybord and thought 'DARN IT'  thats some flight back    its amazing just how far off map you can actually fly, is there any limit at all?

Oh yes and i actually think the reason that you CAN go off map to make the sim more realistic, it would be kinda bad to have an invisible wall which you crashed into or turned you away, could be a real pain if your dogfighting near the edge, its kida like haveing a huge ocean all around the map and makes it feel like an unending world, dont think its there for off map tactics. Not that i get realy mad about it, butits a bit sneeky and unfair, like takeing advantage of a bug.

Does the blast radius of the carbombing also kill any troops nearby running for the map room ?

Hey, Santa, what's up?

Slow time in the Danish mating season? White count getting up too hi?

The Doc sez to take 12oz of 18 year old MacAllan while watching the sun set. Then call him in the morning.

Toad, we've had two days of 20c+ here and all sun.

Which means the babes wear very little clothes.

Which in turn means I must vent SOMEWHERE.

And the result is that I bother YOU

Ain't bothering me, sonny.

I keep a low white count at all times and plenty of MacAllan in the wet bar.

You just been sounding a little frustrated lately on the BBS and I was concerned.

Not a big fan of off-map bombing, but I'd rather speak with my guns on-line and hunt them down.

As for "carbombing"... its just too preventable to complain about.  Any aircraft can prevent this with 15 seconds of time.  I do believe those complaining about it seriously need to get a clue.

It does if the butthead driving flys near enough to the map room. If the guns won't operate with the gear down neither should the bombay doors or wing mounted munitions.

The bomb bay door should operate, but the bombs should not be armed without falling for some distance, just like the real thing.

I don't like off the map bomber on the Lake map either, it's really annoying if you are one of the countries with their HQ right on the border.
