help trying to remeber two movies from childhood.
« on: July 28, 2003, 02:12:39 PM »
These memories might be vague but I'm hoping someone knows.

1st movie

Was a science fiction space movie from the 80s. A guy was saving some girl. One scene had these weird fat white guys in a room ( they looked like the Michlen men). I remeber at the very end of the movie they were on some planet that looked like a mad max movie and they made the girl run the gauntlet through some maze of death and she survives till the end...

Anyone recall this movie?

2nd movie

A horror movie from the 70s I think. Stared  Burgess Meredith as an apartment building manager. I remeber only one scene where this couple found him out , he was like some kinda warlock demon guy and the upstairs was flooded with these crazy monster/native/insane people that started coming down the stairs after this couple.....   thats all I remember but its stayed with me all these years and I really wanna find it again..

like I said these were vague. Hope someone can help.

Can't help you there but I have a similar question related to the other post about what people would do if they woke up in a world empty of people. Didn't want to hijack that thread and this one seems more appropriate.

Anyhoo - the film followed a dad and his two children as they went pot-holing. When they came up from the caves they found a solar flare had turned everybody to piles of salt. They headed home to find mom, hoping she was indoors or something when it happened; they found her salt pile in a bathrobe on the porch.

Movie ended on a downward note if I recall :D What was it called?

Not looking it up, but I think the "salt pile" thing was called "Day of the Comet"

The other loser was Peter Strauss.

Oh... and I believe the second movie was "The Sentinel".

www.imdb.com Caution: this is an enormous time sink. "Oh look! The guy who played that guy in this was also in that..."

This is kind of whacky.

I'm trying to remember the name of an off-the-wall movie that was kind of a spoof on the George Romero zombie films combined with creatures from outerspace. This was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. It had sooo much gratuitious violence, blood, gore and gross-out stuff that it was HILARIOUS.

In one scene, a zombie is coming up a hill after a guy. The guy shoots the zombie with a shotgun and blows off its arm. Zombie falls down, gets back up. Guy blows off his other arm. Zombie falls down, gets back up. Guy blows off zombies leg. Zombie falls down, and starts pushing itself up the hill. Guy blows off the other leg, and so-on until only the head and a bit of the spine is trying to roll up the hill while making faces and trying to reach out with its tongue...

In another scene, a good guy is in undercover mode at a meeting of the outerspace creatures in the basement of a farmhouse.  The good guy is trying to spy on them. The creatures have taken on human form, and are standing around a large table. The good guy is trying to act natural and fit in with the group, doing what ever they do. The leader of the outerspace creatures in human form performs a ceremony in which he intentionally vomits into large golden bowl. You can see warm smelly steam coming off the pile of puke. He passes the plate around the table and each creature in human form shlurps up vomit straight from the bowl, then passes the bowl to the next one who does the same. Our hero, still trying to act natural, keeps moving down one to avoid having to drink the vomit. But the others take notice and our hero is forced to stand still and take his turn.

He raises the steamy bowl up to his face and tentativally shlurps just a little bit of the vomit.  But his face lights up and he goes... "Mmmmm" and he starts greedily shlurping down the puke, grunting and swallowing loudly, until the creatures have to smack him and take it away from him. :D

Its a long shot, but I hope someone can remember the title. I saw it on VHS about 10 - 15 years ago.

lol, required viewing when I was growing up....the bit about the vomit just stuck in my mind I guess :D

And to think...Peter Jackson's reduced to making  the Lord of the Rings to earn a crust :)
