Sir Winston. The man and the perfect moment clearly met.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

I'd vote for Wellington. Master strategist, master general, master statesman.

Nationally I voted for IK Brunel; ever since I studied his work at school I've been totally balled over.

But... I guess most of the world haven't really heard of him, therefore it's bound to be between Newton and Churchill.  I'd vote for Newton as he was a local to me! :)

Boy..they missed a bunch, and added certain ones that shouldn't even quailify.

Arthur..King of the Britons.
Boudecia (although she was Icenic and not technically a Briton)

There are a bunch more.

How does Diana warrent being on the list...or Lennon, for that matter.

I mean if Lannon's on the list shouldn't Beckham be there too?

Oliver Cromwell or Alexander Fleming,

but Isaac Newton is also a top choice, for being a giant upon whose shoulders all of us stand.

I'd never vote for Cromwell, since it was mostly General Thomas Fairfax that did most of the work for the Roundheads and not Cromwell.  Cromwell came to fore when Fairfax wouldn't sign the execution of Charles 1st, and incidently Cromwell eventually became what he originally despised, a kind of dictator.
