Lazs:

Send me your pistol and I will take a picture of it and post it.  I'll also give it enough exercise to make sure it does not get flabby.

Heya hooli... believe me.. the cops are giving it a workout.   They can't work puters either tho.

dune.. I have a chrome .45 30's vintage.   I would not own the Colt "reproduction" as it would simply be a reproduction... the early ones had short triggers and arched mainspring housings and mine says "property of U.S. Government.   The gun is reliable but won't shoot groups that are even close to the Kimber.

The picture of the Eclipse is right except for sights..  mine has the rounded fixed sights with tritium inserts.

Oh.. Kimber makes a 1911 .22 rimfire in custom II that is all t6.   Very tempting...

the Kimber comes with one magazine, ONE...   I had a half dozen laying around from the 30's 7 round jobs up to the wizz bang wilson ones in 8 round stainless with buttpads.... the friggin kimber likes all of em..

This is a fun gun to shoot.  I had to fire up the .44's to keep from getting any gushier over the damn thing.   Bought one if them little plastic holsters (well someone gave it to me)  and the gun clips into it... most hassle free holster ai ever used... along with the 1911 slim profile.... neat package.

Oh I know that a real (or probably the repro) 1911 wont shoot like the Kimber.  Or my Gov't model for that matter.  It's a "want one" thing  :)

Of course all this gun talk has made it so I have to go the range tomorrow.  I have a new toy I need to sight in: http://www.hunting-pictures.com/members/dune/J338closeup.jpg

It's a custom Springfield 1903 in .338 Win Mag with a 23 inch tube, stock from Wenig, and a Burris Fullfield II 3x-9x scope with the BallisticPlex reticle on custom scope bases.

For those who are familiar..  How would you compare Para-Ord to kimber?  I picked up a para 14/45 limited a while ago and found it quite reliable and accurate.  It'll hold 3 inch or less groups at 25 meters and is a bit more fun with the lasermax integrated.  It comes with some pretty nice target sights but I wish they where tritium painted for night use.   Though the laser sight makes up for that and has a bit of intimidation value added at the expense of visibility.  Whats the eclipse hold for ammo load?

Thing passes my lacksadaisical standards... will make fist sized groups at 30 yards or so.  Still... both my .44 revolvers will shoot as well at that range and way better at 50 yards or more.

neat gun tho.. glad I bought it.   the night sights are really cool.. three dot that are white in the light and turn a a sikly glowing green in the dark.

The cops that I know wanted to shoot it so I handed it over.  about 20 of em all were wshooting the damn thing and they didn't want to give it back... no failures of any kind with those cavern points winchester calls "hollow points" .... All the cops said that they had never shot so well.   They said the Kimber beat every handgun they had that day... mostly glocks.

You bastard. Did you get any one of the 4.6 million emails asking you about 1911 family pistols I sent you a few months ago? :)

If you can bring it to FunkedUp's AH con. If I'm there I'll have what I wound up choosing and we'll go to a 'closed' range in the S.F. Bay Area and do some comparisons. Do you have an email address that I can reach you at?

wulfie.. you can reach me at the same email.   I don't claim to know much about 1911 style autos.   I bought the Kimber because I don't know a lot about em.   I wasn't gonna get that much into em and I have a tendency to learn about something and then "modify" it... people have been modifying 1911 pistols for ever.. lots of stuff out there to experiment with... The Kimber is an integrated package with most of the stuff done that anyone would want in this style of handgun.  It is accurate, reliable and well made and has tritium sights and....The coolest finish I have seen... black stainless.  The front strap has 30 lines per inch checkering.   Lots of neat stuff about it.  Hopefully... I will leave it alone.

Oh... another cool thing to get these days is electronic ear muffs.  Mine are Dillon precision but there are a bunch out there for around $150.   They magnify low noise levels but muffle loud noise (gunfire)... you can hear people talking and here the slide rack back and forth during firing.... even hear the bullert hit the bank but... the sound of the gunfire is ... well... sounds like the guns on TV... sounds like gunfire but quieter.   Allmost a whole new experiance in shooting.
