I suppose its foolish to hope that sooner or later most Hollywood types will figure out that they dont understand anything about politics.

...and what do YOU understand about politics?
Quite obviously not the part about 'democracy'  and 'freedom' of it :D

Nobody is restricting his free speech.  Now, expecting us not to criticize him for his stupid remarks, THAT would be a restriction of free speech.  :)

It's fine to dissent.  And it's fine to criticize him when he says something that is stupid or that we disagree with.

I was looking forward to the remake of Willy Wonka, may pass on it now.

Quite a bit, actually - I majored in political science at university.

I wont even ask you the same question based on your use of 'Democracy' and 'Freedom' as constants that somehow justify an argument, nevermind the fact that in the context youre using them, they are hypocritical.

The 'freedom' to speak your mind applies just before the responsibilty to accept judgement for your words.

He is entitled to his opinion. He has the right to freedom of speech. He can live say and do where ever and what ever he likes. Fortunatly I have that same freedom to spend my money where ever and when ever I like. I for one will never go see another one of his movies.

Freedom in action you gotta love it.

You missed the point funk.

Depp is entitled to his opinion and so is grun, however:

clearly implies that our fruitty-right-wing-nut that Depp should have qualms about it, aka - not make his living here because of this opinion. That's unamerican. You can love the country without loving the government. A statement that grun would argue to death if we were to speak of Luftwaffel pilots :D

Fd I think Grunherz was pointing out the irony that this person who blasts the USA is also entirely dependent on its economic system for his income and wealth.  In fact I think he got his big break on Fox.  His political principles are important enough to him that he will whine about the US in foreign media, but those principles are not important enough to him to stop suckling the Hollyweird teat.  He's a sellout.

I'm not sure what his personal opinon(s) have to do with his ability to act. No question, Depp is an odd bird, but most actors are.

I generally disagree with everything that comes out of Charleton Heston's mouth, but this doesn't stop me from enjoying his movies.

So let me see Funked, what you are saying is that as long as he makes his living from America he is not entitled to criticise it's goverment. (Incidentally the quote on CNN is out of context. In the full article he is clearly criticising the current administration.)

I've heard of countries like that, let's see North Korea, Iran, Libya, Cuba, the former Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and now Funked's and Grunherz's America. Maybe Depp has a point?

Grunherz as ever is hypersensitive to criticism of America, which is ironic considering where he came from and why he lives in America now. So Gruny what do you suggest for his punishment? Imprisonment, exile (too late, he lives in France), execution?

You know I wish you right wingers would all learn to think, that is THINK for yourselves. Open your eyes for goodness sake.
