You do if you want any real chance of taking territory.

Most of the time the distances involved are too long for a Goon flight unless the attack is REALLY organized.

It is not the Fleets if they are used as intended - it is the players that park them right off an enemy base to harass aircraft or park them in the major flight lanes as a place to "run for cover" if they get a con on their tail.

In real life while convoys and warships did cruise the English Channel they hugged their own costs as much as possible. Both sides had massive batteries of large guns all up and down the Channel. What actually is needed is this added to the map - the the "Fleet Parking" would stop in a hurry.

They are a pain in the ass. The flak is horrible and ruins some good fights. Deej111 and myself moved the fleets several times out of the way on both sides yesterday. They would get moved back as soon as we gave up control.

...just to throw my two marks in....  :D

i was above the channel saturday, and i had 5 kills.  no enemas were in sight, so i was moseying back to a10 at 22k and WHAM!  i got pulverized by an ack hit.  needless to say, i was so pissed i logged.

the whole idea behind having a fleet is to support a "move" of some sort, imho.  NOT for some lame-o to cover himself with because he's/she's/it's to afraid that he/she/it will be whacked without some help...and let's face it, when the numbers are lacking (as they often do during the off hours), most simply want to fly and have some fun fighting.

to all of you ack huggers and fleet parkers out there...SHAME ON YOU!  go back to the ma where being a dweeb is expected and welcomed!

:lol

Yeah, the fleet ack is bad.... The ack they put up ruins my fps and it ruins good fights when acks kill you or the other player after a long fight.

As Slash said, we'd move them out of range of the fields but after a while some player would park'em right off the coast again.

Undoubtedly true.  So...do we want to have the CT turn into a landgrab operation?

Because, otherwise, the fleets are a detriment to air-to-air combat.

Can't we place the fleets and disable their ack unless you're damn close.  Turn it up hot so it blows the hell outta anyone within 500 yards, otherwise it does not fire?

Alternatively, couldn't we run vehicle spawn points close to the two shores so we can alleviate fleets in BOB?
