To JG3- (past and present)
« on: September 30, 2003, 07:46:38 PM »
Didn't really get to say 'bye' how I wanted; was taken off the list which is understandable. This be the only place I think I can catch y'all.

I really, really did enjoy flying with you guys in JG3. I was recruited by Dawgs after, inadvertantly, stopping his plans in my little yak too many times with Macchi on probably my 3rd day in the game. Needless to say, I had *NO* idea what I was getting myself into. I always said, in jest, "Now how in God's name did I end up in this Luftwaffe squad when the plane I can actually fly is for the allies?" Still trying to figure that one out, actually.

I learned a lot in my... I don't want to think about how many months with you guys. It was a fair amount of time. I went from being scared to death and havin' not a clue how to fly the plane let alone fly someone's wing and line up on the runway... to still havin' not a clue how to fly the planes, but being able to fly someone's wing passibly and being able to line up on the runway (for the most part....). It was fun, I enjoyed every minute of it.

Its weird logging on now at night when I can and not having you guys chattering in my ear. There were some great quotes that passed over our radios, and I don't think I'm ever gonna be able to think about Bolt and Storch talkin' to each other and not laugh.

Dawgs- Thanks for bringing me into the madhouse. Not sure what else to say that I haven't already in times past... Just, thanks for everything? You were wond-e-ful.

Diablo- I'm still waiting on 'yours'. That donkey aint gonna cut it. ;) Thanks for the laughs, bud. I'll be watching my 6 for you while I'm posting around here.

Hi6- If you're still lurking around there somewhere, thanks for being so patient with me right there at the beginning and working on that 'landing' stuff with me. I'll get it someday!

Lowe- Thanks for taking a chance on a newbie, and welcoming one of those 'female' types into the squad. I prolly caused more uproar than anyone, adding a whole new element of 'politics' to things... sorry to leave you with the mess to clean up after. ;)

Jester- You know what? You scared the crap outta me when I first started in the squad. Your mic was loud, you were loud... you flew well, everyone respected you; I just kinda sat back in awe. Good thing that didn't last long, hm? ;) Thanks for you're help with everything; those models included. Almost got the first one done, couldn't find the right color paint anywhere in town so had to make a special trip. Mucho thanks, man.

Bear- I still say you've got the smiling thing down and need to teach the rest of those guys a lesson. With the exception of Mike and... Who was the other one.. Norad? Work on that for me since I can't do it anymore! Was a pleasure flying with you, sir.

Mike- Dang, you got stuck with me.. didn' you. I feel like I've said, "Thanks for being patient" a lot already; but I think you deserve a gold star. How many times did you have to circle back for me that first week I was your wing 'cause I hit the trees on takeoff? Stupid trees. Anyway, will definately miss flying with you.

Kugi- Missed you towards the end there. Still think you're one of the craziest 190 pilots I know, hope you get things worked out so you can come back and fly again soon!

Bolt- What kin I say. Good pilot, great sense of humor... might see you around in the allied skies nowadays more often. Good luck to you, enjoyed the time with yas in jg3.

Telstar- You sure yer speakin' English? ;) Talk about a great pilot to learn from. Gonna miss trailing you in the TA on practice nights, that was a challenge and a half sometimes! Anyway, we talked kinda already... remember what ya promised!

Storch- Yegads man. I remember trying to tell you that, no really- You were flying fine while you insisted that you stunk. Mr. "how high is my rank now?" :p Thoroughly enjoyed flying with you, man. Really did.

Gear- No, I'm not pregnant! hehe, sorry. I keep thinking back on that afternoon and just laughing; the things that can happen when someone looses UDP mid-conversation! Really gonna miss harassing ya and flying with you. Keep up the good work, secret squirrel.

Snoopy- Haven't seen you around much lately. Thanks for working on the landings with me, even if you *did* crash about as many times as me... Just kidding. A fine pilot, even if we did have our spats; will miss the jesting partner. See you in the skies, and good luck with the horses.

Splurts- I wish I could've flied with you longer! You'll go far in that squad- keep 'em all in good humor for me while I'm gone, don't let 'em get to stiff. ;)

Sniper- Just don't even say it, okay? Such a brat... but thats okay, it was great to fly with you while we did, even if I did want to reach through the computer and smack you most of the time.

Thunder- You sir, well- Thanks. I really loved flying with you, and the time in the TA with Macchi that one night was absolutely great- learned a lot and had a load of fun in the process. I'll see you on aim.

Shop, Crummp, N7 and Pickle- I didn't get to know you guys that well, partially because I wasn't around much after you joined up (or came back in Pickle's case)- would've liked to though.

I think that might be everyone... my brain is fried at this point. If I forgot someone; don't take it personally! Its been a long week over here, and I'm sick (again.. gr.) so the brain's shut down. Sometimes I'm begginning to wonder if it ever started again after last week.

Anyway. Thanks for watching my 6 guys, although... you may have enjoyed it more than me. ;) Will miss flying with you guys a lot, maybe if RL lets up on me next semestor Lowe could find it in his heart to let me back in.

That's all from me. Yay long post.

Happy Landings Keso.

I think the majority of you guys that got dropped didnt understand the reason. Nobody was banned form the squad, people who were inactive or not making squad times were dropped so we could orgainize around those who were regularly flying. Your always welcome in JG-3 as was each person dropped Sunday.

Understand we're looking at a list that had over 20 on it , and 8 to 12 showing regularly. It's tough to try and stucture when you keep having to figure out who doesnt show. Anytime your ready to fly with us say the word.

Keso-

I can honestly say that you made JG3 that much more fun to fly with.  I hate to see things change but, such as life, things change and you have to deal with it.  Maybe someday I will show you 'mine' but, alas, I think you are a little too young to handle it, LOL!!!  Blue skies dear Keso, you were fun, fun, fun!!!

As for the rest of JG3, guys, it was a blast to say the least.  This isn't the forum to air dirty laundry so I will not attempt to address squad problems here.  I'd just like to say JG3, thanks for the time, thanks for the tips, and most of all, thanks for the memories.  I have found a new home at VF-17 "Jolly Rogers" and after making some carrier landings tonight, I think that the challenge is what I need right now.  It's good to be back in a Navy uniform, although I do that in real life one weekend a month.

Jester, I'd like to add one more thing.  When Ro recruited me into the 325th I was assigned to your wing and I had zero online flight experience.  I learned alot from you bud, and I will never forget it.  Following you in P-47's doing a bomb run is something no top cover pilot can ever experience.  So, with that being said, thanks for taking me under your wing...and a mighty big wing it is!

Löwe, thanks for letting me have IV Gruppe for a while.  To be your first choice for leading the Jabo gruppe was indeed an honor, the HIGHEST honor.  Thanks for that responsibility, it is the highlight of my career so far...

To the rest of JG3, the biggest .  Telstar, TwoDogs(fluff'n), 2851, Bear76, and the rest of you guys, thanks for flying with me (and GVing when we had the chance!!)!  Will always remember the conversations the most.  I think I laughed as much as I flew!

So long JG3, blues skies, good luck, and good hunting!

Diablo.
I really hated to hear you weren't re-upping. Ditto on what I said  to Keso. Anytime your ready we'll always have an FW ready for you. Take it easy on the nips on PTO setups you know what it's like on this side of the pond.

Oh yeah don't get your wings soggy. I do miss the CV ops VF-17 was prob the most fun I've had in an on-line squad. Good luck brother.

Lowe- I don't know if you ever saw Tel's idea about having a 'reserve' gruppe made of the people who wanted to fly, but had real life issues that made it so they couldn't get there every time?

It was somethign to the effect of... they would be used to plug the holes left when people didn't show for some reason, fill in the missing wings.. etc, etc. I thought it was a good idea; because then they wouldn't be disrupting the normal flow of things if they weren't there... and if they were, they could fill the holes that would disrupt things.

It might end up that if there was an extra person, they'd have to be tacked onto a gruppe.. maybe make a 3 wing team, but that wouldn't be too bad in the end.

Think about it? I realize right now with classes and real life... issues I don't have the time to be a dedicated member, but I still loved flying with you guys and honestly miss the bunch (and its only been how many days?). But I know I can't reliably show up at 10 every tuesday and thursday because sometimes I just gotta sleep. No hard feelings here, promise.

And Diablo- Hey now! I can take it! :P You have such little faith. *sighs with mock indignance* Such little faith... ;) Wind to thy wings. I'll be watchin' fer ya.... (dum-da-dum... threat or promise?)

Not to jump in on this but if I gather this correctly I know first hand what its like having to drop and be dropped from a squadron.

As for Diablo...err Barnacle now...well we are making sure that he gets exactly what he needs when he finally gets his carrier qualifications done.

Ens. Barnacle get your tail over here and wax my aircraft propeller! Don't you go anywhere either when you finish; Lt. Arlo will be here shortly with his ride.

To all of you, it is a real loss to JG 3 that you are leaving but unfortunately all things change and must come to end. I am thankful for all the friends I have made during my times flying and will always remember you all. We did have some good times.

I have often found it really amusing the friendships that are built by flying together with people most have never even met face to face.

Diablo - Was a joy buddy. Had a lot of good times. Agree with you - the Top Cover guys just don't get the thrill of diving into the target to blast the enemy. Plus there is no greater thrill than being shot at an MISSED! LOL! Know the feeling also of smelling the salt air - I really miss the old Hellcat sometimes. GO NAVY!

Kesolei - Was a lot of fun there. Was even more fun showing you what a 109 could do to a Yak! LOL! ;)  Take care and hope you can come back and fly with us when your schedule permitts.

Storch & Bolt - Hated to see you guys leave as well but you got to go with that feeling. Have had it myself. GOOD LUCK AND GOOD HUNTING! !
