Just ate dinner. It was very good and I cooked it myself. The really cool part is that just about 4 hours ago they were flying around a field about 5 miles from my office
It had been 10 years since I dove hunted, until this evening. When I hunted 10 years ago I really sucked bad. I would shoot an average of about 5 shells for every bird I hit. I had no idea about lead or deflection shooting. So I was very interested if my years of flying online would help me shoot dove. I'm happy to report that yes it did! My main problem now is judging the distance I can shoot. I really have no idea how far #7 bird shot will go and still kill. I'm thinking about 30-40 yards. I only saw 5 birds all night. I killed 3
The first two I shot at but I think they were a bit too far out to kill. They were about 60+ yards away when I shot.
The first kill was easy. He flew up off the ground about 10 ft in front of me and flew directly away. BAM! hit it in the head with 2 pellets
Wierd part was that it didn't die, had to decap. it. The next one was a nice deflection shot to the right about 15 yards out, the bird folded nicely. The last one was a kick bellybutton shot. The bird jumped up about 20 yards to my right and was flew straight across my path at 90 degrees. I pulled about 3' of lead and shot once, bird folded nicely
ahhhh can't wait for 6pm tomorrow!!!!!!
