Heck in my typical cable modem web surfing, I figure some of those multimedia web sites are almost 3 megs just by themselves !

It'd be nice if MOST folks also had cable modems or faster, then we can dispence with these limitations on texture, etc cuz we have the bandwith to download large files.

Heck, I've downloaded q2 from a friend, about 125megs and it took about half an hour  

Although come to think of it, most hardcore gamer folks who can afford 29.95 a month probably have wideband net access like cable or ADSL

Cable modems aren't available yet in some areas at ANY price.

My cable company says maybe by Spring.

So lets not jump the gun just yet <G>.

They haven't run lines all over the "great beyond" as quickly as we all hoped.

You can buy a computer from anywhere.  You can not however, get hi speed access until somebody has the capability to give it to you.  Oz woulda had SOME kind of hi speed access long ago yes, but it simply is not available where he is.

Cable modem??  Heck, out here in the hinterlands of Michigan, we don't even have CABLE.  3 megs is plenty at 26.4 kbaud.
