That's odd Octavius. The 3.8 drivers actually fixed my scrolling problem.

cat 3.7 followup
« Reply #17 on: October 15, 2003, 05:15:48 PM »
update after installng the cat 3.7 drivers (and control panel).

note: scroll wheeling with mouse on the bbs created a smeared display (which only corrected itself by minimizing and restoring window) while having ah2 running in background. (uninstalled cat's, reinstalled, plm solved.)

also alt-tabbing is no longer a 1 shot deal, have to do it 2-3 times before it decides to cooperate. was fine before latest cat/cp drivers; inflight was very difficult to alt-tab out, had to do it about 10 times. (uninstalled cat's, reinstalled - plm solved)

(vsync is enabled)
(palletized texures disabled).

AMD Athlon XP 2000+
Radeon Pro 128MB Video - 4x AGP
L7Vmm Motherboard
512 MB Ram

Using Cat 3.8

Frame Rate 16 on runway, improves to around 25 on flight. Drops to 16-20 in dive.

Choppy video - propeller and tracer effects only visible sometimes

I normally average 50fps in MA online with highs of 85 fps at times

Installed Cat 3.8.....Framerate little better - get to around 45 in level flight....start blazing away guns at nothing...tracers drop  to 12. Also have black boxes around text and some sprites also have boxes around them(fw190 nose guns). Lots of smaller graphics issue and a few flight model issues (109 dropping left wing hard on auto pilot / gear down /up, or is that tremendous amount of torque? Never flown a 109...lol)Few other small things, but no CTDs with anything so far. Will wait on those issues.

Complete DXDIAG results:

Also gonna keep these to core problems as per Skuzzys request...

Looks like most of you folks have touched on same problems.

At a large base:  30fps in tower,  35fps on runway,  drops to 20 when shooting 100yrds from P51

Away from the base and 3k agl rates bounce around from the 30's up to monitor refresh of 75, when looking down at the trees rates take a hit back down to the high 30's

- In the sky (not near the ground detail) => 35 to 72 fps.
-On the deck => averages 30fps with some stutter
- High speed airfield pass (1 rwy) => 18 fps.

I had max res with 32 bit textures and unlimited fr set.

I gotta say that I love the new base layouts and eye candy.  The bases look great.  :)

The frame rates took a bigger hit than I was expecting, though.

I ran AH2 at 1024x768 in 32-bit.  FR's from 15 to ~55 at low level flight.  FR of 75 when I look straight up.  (In comparison, I'm usually getting 75fps in AH-classic.)

When I run the beta at 1024x768, I get ~25 fps in the cockpit and flying, but if I bump the resolution up to 1600x1200, I get around 35 to 40 fps!

Sounds crazy, but I guess I won't complain...  :D

Specs:
Windows XP
PIV 2.4C OCed to 2.6
512 meg - DDR 3200
Geforce 2 Ultra 64

oh, and I'm getting all of the graphics issues others are, like screwy bullet trails and kick up, missing prop, 2 rear wheels on the 190 (!), etc...

In the tower  between 25 to 30 depending on view

In P51 on take off 19 to 25 depending on lateral view settling to 37/40 when looking up.

Also the clipboard map flickers as a I scroll it . It gives the effect of  high luminesence such that in certain positions the back ground terrain graphic is brilliant white.

I have only this last few days upgraded my system so there may be some driver issues hanging around however
