P4-1.7, 256MB, GeForce3, WinME, DX9.0

The fog makes a false coastline when you're out over the ocean.  It retreats from you as you fly toward it, so it's always the same distance away.  This phantom shore is most visible at 10 and 2 o'clock, less so at 12, but still there.

Here's a shot of it.  Note on the map how I really am pointing out to the open sea.  I found this very confusing at first, doubting my compass :)

Is this the legendary Island of Ultimate 'Nanas?

That's what I'm saying.  I'm flying south with nothing ahead of me but water.  But the way the fog has this line in it, it LOOKs like I'm heading for land.

I dont think that means anything as the highest level of detail (shift F1) has not yet been activated.
