AH2 Beta Issues
« on: October 19, 2003, 03:45:59 PM »
Knowing that this is a Beta, and having done the closed Beta for AW3, I am a little disappointed in what I have seen and read in these posts, and the release,  in general.  HTC is better than this.  If this was released due to pressures on-line, then shame on HTC.  This is not their style, as it smacks of EA releases of AWME and then it's demise.  I have a new PC that I purchaced for the moment.  I could have built it, but thought I would give Dell a try.  In all honesty, I am somewhat disappointed because of my sound and connectivity.  My VOX is usually toast-SB Live 128, I have a DSL connection, but that isn't always reliable.  But those are issues I must contend with for now.

FPS, Graphics-that the latest scenarios did better-, controls, text issues, navigation, explosions, nmy ack, views, and the overall playability are marginal to poor, even on this PC that I thought was "better than average".  No sense listing all the faults, I am reading them in previous posts.

HTC, please withdraw this Beta, and tell the folks here you are just not ready for trials yet.  If they don't understand that, then I guess we will miss them.  Do not set a standard that is not worthy of this SIM.  Since 1999, I had faith and went the extra mile.  $30.00 a month was not a problem for me.  The quality was there, and I accepted that as a true benchmark, for the things to come.  I have not been disappointed, until now.  Please rethink this Beta trial, scrap it,  and take another year if you must, to make it better.  I can wait.

No offense K-KEN, but you should have read this first

Also note, one of the purposes of a BETA like this is to gauge where the game is.  We don't have the hundreds of machines and configurations to test to find what we found in a matter of days and certainly appreciate the reports on what we asked for.
It is very beneficial and helps the community in the long run.

No offense taken sir, I just read the post you linked.  (for the first time)

You're definition of Beta testing is understood by me, what I do not understand, is,  what benchmark did you set this by??  Surely, you have a minimum standard.  When did you test this and what were "your" results??  You see, I don't have a problem testing, what I have a problem with,  is "testing for you".  You should be satisfied with your results, long before,  I get the opportunity to try my hand at it.  Are you getting the same results as me??  Was your testing giving you different readings??
Why not post your PC settings and stats for us to decipher.  Are you getting slow frame rates?  Is your Video locking up or slowing to a crawl??  What is your OS, RAM, Video and settings?  (ram)

I guess I am not going to be satisfied with the usual corporate-non-answer.  You have to satisfy me, the consumer.  skuzzy, address the issues at hand.  I love AH, but I do not want to see another AW going down the tubes.  Answer my questions, with specifics.  You know we all are flying under different settings.

I still fly and enjoy the SIM.  However, the connectivity issues and other issues loom large for some of my squad.  (with this version)
I'd rather spend another year in this version, than to upgrade to something that is unplayable.

K-KEN, you are falling into that trap.  Judging the product is absolutely the worst thing anyone can do right now.  It is not ready for that.  If you cannot help but judge it, then maybe you should wait for HT to get closer to a pre-release BETA.
What is being done right now is very key to being able to move forward quickly.

Again, no disrespect intended.

In other games and other companies this beta might have been a closed one instead of the open beta we were able to participate.

If you would have read the sticky posts before writing here, you would have known before that your post is useless.
After you've read the sticky and still don't getting what the purpose of this open beta is, .... you are a dolt.

Please don't care about any beta in future and download AH2 when it's released. Thank you. :)

I'm thankful for this open beta and I hope that HTC will keep it this way no matter how many posts of dolts they will read. ;)

Since I have been compromised and accosted by several folks, it doesn't matter to me.  I didn't get a satisfactory reply, and therefore, you will get the same.  My account still speaks for itself.  Once you "go forward" to the new platform, it will speak again. I thought my input was important.

lucall, never crossed yer ICON or death in my text buffer.
I have to assume, you are a BB monkey.

OK, you want input....
Graphics..... Planes are awesome, except I hate the mouse views.  Did I say, I hate the rear view of the 109??  I hate all the views and settings

The Bases.  Well, I have seen better graphics in the current version in the last 2 or 3 scenarios.  (Midway, Okinawa, ... Yes, better!!  )

Frame rate....sucks.  Of course, this is offline.  Online should be a new and wonderful experience.

The Hangar: Nothing indicated when ya hit the fuel pad to load fuel. (guess that's normal)

The KI256 indicator is a black and white screen that has no indication, and the Autopilot sux.  It won't work for me.  I set it, and the plane consistantly rolls to the left.  Also, guns or ammo loads are blank screens.

The landing gear in the 109 floats above the wings when it is retracted.

The ack at the nmy bases does not fire.

Planes that are drones can be killed, but they do not explode, they just disappear.  But I can crash into them.

Some base targets will show hits but not die.  Radar tower is one, when tring to kill it in a tank.  I showed sprites, but nothing after 30 rounds of HE

Did I say frame rates??  They suck!

Navigation in the NEW SIM sucks too.    I found myself wallowing around for a while looking for "Exit".  Alt + F4 always works.
The new O'Club is cool, what does it do?? Can you plan a mission there??  Or is it just a place to drink and be merry??  Didn'
t find that option.

OK, flight characteristics, the planes fly "funny".  Not the same.  Autopilot settings do not work for me.  If I use Shift +X the plane veers left, and never levels, or stabilizes to the CR.  If I use Alt + X the plane veers left, and never levels or climbs and stabilizes.  If I put the plane in level flight, and then do X  the plane might fly level. (in most tries)

So now, does this make me a bad tester??  Or did I just repeat what others have posted?

I don't give respect to people that don't deserve it.. Time on this earth just doesn't cut it for me.

oh, Edit..

Quit pissing and moaning about how much you hate a stripped down beta.

Look back over your post and see how big of a fool you're making of yourself.

He must have one hell of a .9ghz machine to get 17 to 41fps with that setup.

Mine is a AMD 2000xp+ with a Geforce ti 4200 64ddr card, and I'm only getting 24 to 26 fps. In cockpit view on the runway.
