silly string - LOL

that is funny as they do resemble the stuff :)

don't use tracers so it don't matter to me unless the "silly string" has an affect on fps

The spiral tracer smoke effect is not believable looking, unless your a big Matrix fan (Isuppose alot of the kids here are)

The diameter of smoke spiral looks way too large and the length from top to top of two adjoining spirals looks way too short for even large caliber projectiles.  Faced with the option of having to look at that effect or turn tracers off it would be simply turn tracers off.

The atmospherhic conditions that allowed for a smoke trail were not persisitant but rather rare from what the historical record indicates to me.  The effect as modeled in Beta is not believable and way overdone imo.

I also noticed the size and thought it was large, but I've only seen film so I can't say anything positively. One thing I did notice was the tracking of the tracers. It seems 'funny'. If your pulling up and firing, the tracer trails don't stay where they were fired, they seem to climb with the plane that's firing them. It's the same as in original AH though.

I can understand making them state of the art graphically but personally I'll have mine off as I do in AH.

I am sure HTC is aware of how the tracers look and is working on improving them.

Just by observation, I will include what I have found with the current tracers.

Do this test --
1. In a Tiger, turn on tracers and use the Pintle MG. Use external view and then fire tracers in an arc going around the tank.

What you will see is that all of the tracer trails stay exactly the same appearance. Then rather than the ends spreading and disapating like smoke, the entire trail quickly fades then disapears all at once. <<-- that looks rather (for lack of a better word) stupid

I think to make the effect better, we need to see the ends of the trail spread out and then slowly disapate from the source to the impact point of the bullet.

They are way too solid and stay in the air too long, look more like Quake rail gun as it is now. Hopefully they'll be changed to something what Midnight sugest. Didn't B17 II have nice looking tracers?

the tracer "problem" has been gone over only a million times before

do the tracers take away from the overall gameplay? NO
do they take away the overall feel of the game? probably not
are they going to be changed before it goes online? probably yes
do the tracers still do there job even with the bigarse trails? YES
is your complaint fixed in 2 seconds by turning tracers off? yes
