How many here are "long-timers".

I responded to a post by Guppy35 in another thread where he stated:

I wonder how many guys are left from the early days of this board or AH overall.  I doubt it's a very large percentage of the player base.

My guess is at least half the player base are what I'll refer to as "long-timers".  This is nothing against Guppy35 in any way but it made me curious.  How many ARE "long-timers".

Since Tour 12 ended 1/31/01 then tour 1 must have ended on 2/28/00.  Since the first tours were beta and other sim's were still alive then lets use tour 12 as the beginning so the question is, how many have played flight sims since 1/1/01 or earlier.

Please post only once so we get a good count.  Include your starting date as closely as you remember it, the sim you started in, and your guess as to the percent of long-time players in AHII.

I started in '96 in Air Warrior and my guess at long-timers is half the player base.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

If we use your definition of long-timer, I guess it's waaaaay less. Almost impossible to tell number, but if I would be forced I would say... not more than 10% ?

I first started playing flight sims in AW3 back in 98, but then didn't play again until 2005, played about 6 months then took another break and came back in 2006.  So I'm not a long time player but started in 98.

Started in Fighter Ace in 99....Moved to AH tour 12. Flew under a different ID then...RedTop now.

I took about a year off in there.

So total I would say I been here since tour 12 plus a year i fighter ace. Total of about 8 years or so.

I started in Air Warrior, *before* it was called Classic.  The original Air Warrior.  To be honest, I took a break for a while and have been back steady for over 4 years.    Make it about 11 years with a short break.

Regarding Air Warrior in the old days...accessed it through AOL.....$3.00 an hour to play in those days...   I got a job working online as an instructor in the AOL Academic Community...they paid us in hours...... it was the only way to serve the disease.  :)

Been flying since 1999 ( Air Warrior )

Started AH with tour 21.

No breaks longer than 1 month, and those are due to work.

I still suck at fighters.

I've been playing since 1991-92. I tried AH as soon as it came out but did not get into it full-bore until AW was executed by EA. To my knowledge I am one of only about a dozen remaining regulars from the very early AW days. Most Bish weren't even born when I began kicking bellybutton in the virtual skies...God I feel old..

First online sim for me was Red Baron II in 1996 or 1997? Then followed RB3D, EAW, AH, IL-2, AH2.
My callsign has remained the same, even though in the beginning (in RB2 and RB3D) I flew in JG2 squadron.

Started jan 2000; then players were enjoying a "simulation".
Now all they want is a "game";
That's the reason why I fly lesser.
