Invinvcible Part of the LA-7
« on: April 29, 2008, 02:50:46 PM »
I was flying a 109K-4 and I got an open shot from 50 feet away at a LA-7.  I saw my supporting guns sawing at the wings getting about 5 hits on each side when a hit appears right behind the cockpit(my 30mm).  I was sure the last hit would end him right behind the cockpit from 50 feet witha 30mm.  Well when I looked over he was flying straight on not smoking or any visible damage.  All there was supporting gun hits.  I then thought back to a post that was talking about a invincible spot right behind the cockpit.  Does anyone have any evidence of this, or maybe see if this is a extremely tough part ofthe LA that could take this punishment?  Thanks

I'm just wondering what happened. Is there something wrong with that.

Must be a short practice.   You're still online.

If I was the La7, you'd never have gotten on my 6 to be able to post this thread.

Post/Send the film to HTC if you think something is amiss.

My guess is that all hits were actually from the MGs. La7s are tough little buggers.

Why all the smart arse and jerkish comments?  It is a bit uncalled for, he is asking a simple question.

Nooby, i have never experienced an invincible LA7, but i have had ineffective hits from 30mm on various aircraft.  Most common one i get is hitting a con in the engine block, expecting him to explode and all that happens is engine seizure/oil leak.
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

He knows what the answer will be.   LAG.    He doesn't "wish to hear it".

I have hit planes with 20-30 20mm rounds in a niki and done virtually no damage. On the flip side I hit a c-hog the other night with 1 round in a spit 5(don't know if it was .303 or 20mm) in the body of the plane just ahead of the tail and he go boom. I think maybe you angered the damage model god and he said "No soup for you!!! NEXT!!"

Masherbrum,
I think the correct answer would be packet lose.   :aok

If it was lag he would have died shortly after the hit.

Nooby,
I think of it as a 30mm with a bad fuse........yea so what if you saw an explosion.

How many 30mm hit targets in WW2 and didnt go off?

I experienced the same thing while flying a K4 about 2 weeks ago. I only fire the 30mm mapped to one button. I saw the impact flash behind the cockpit and the La7 kept flying along. I attributed it to a difference in our connection states and let it go.

You guys who made a decent post made good points it was probably what you guys said.  I just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with the damage modeling.

You prob didnt hit him with the 30mm fire the guns separate then you'll know for sure. The drop on the 30mm is pretty drastic if you map the 2 guns to fire at once you'll be missing with one or the other and wasting ammo unless its point blank.
