The film viewer is an essential tool for pilots to progress, needs a few tweaks IMO:
1. It uses the AH engine, why not have it as part of the main application like most games? add another button in the main app interface under "Offline Practise." Films are arguably more useful for newguys than vets, so make it easier for all of us to find and use it.
2. You would then be able to play films from a browser list rather than navigating through windows to get to the films.
It could also pick up all your settings from the main application:
3. Views settings (head position etc) are a must have - how is a new guy supposed to use a film to see what a vet does if the F1 views are nothing like what the vet is seeing? You dont time a break in a scissors based on what it looks like from F3 view.
4. View settings should be saved along with the film, and an option given to use the film settings or your own.
5. Stick settings. Most people have their views/zoom etc set up on a hatswitch or other joystick buttons. If thats how you look around ingame, then thats how it should work in the filmviewer. Its especially bad for me as I use a mini keyboard with no numpad so dont have views set up on the keyboard at all.
6. Padlock self. "Use recorded views" only works for the pilot who recorded the film as recording this data for every other aircraft in range would add massively to the bandwidth required to play online. Padlock view would be a reasonable substitute so you can see what your doing from your enemy's perspective, but there doesnt appear to be a way to padlock yourself.
thoughts?
