I believe the 9500GT 512mb card is faster than this.  The 512mb run a little more expensive mainly because its using DDR3 which is clocked faster than the 1gb DDR2 you quoted.

I guess after rebate its worth it.  Personally I'd spend a little more up front for a better card.  You're not gonna be able to do full settings with the 9500 anyways.

Not the best brand.

1GB which means slower memory then it's 512mb counterparts.

In the general scheme of videocards it's still fairly low-grade, though this game doesn't need much to play it.

Decent price.

If your really big on MIRs then I'd say go for it, but if you plan to upgrade your card you might as well do it right the first time. Go with a brand like EVGA or BFG and get something thats a 9600 so your not regretting it a year later.

Edit: Fulmar beat me to it haha.

I can run the game fine.I hear alot of pissing and moaning about how people cant run it.I feel for em. This is a very cheap card that should run it fairly well. Now they can upgrade for peanuts.

Upgrading is not what is cheapest.  It is what will compliment what you currently have and then improve performance.  Again not what is cheapest.

True, but the biggest hit is coming to the graphics card. This card would maybe fix the issue for most of the people that are having issues. And at a price nobody can say they cant swing.

wrong... I know at least 3 people who are running this game on an 8400GS with everything turned on except the shadowing (which is a waste of time anyhow, not to mention only a handful of cards can run this correctly)....and everything maxed out....... still maintaining their 60 frames

note that the 9500GT is a much better card than the 8400GS

That may be, but try running the card at a higher resolution or with anti-aliasing on.

Upgrading is not what is cheapest.  It is what will compliment what you currently have and then improve performance.  Again not what is cheapest.

I don't think I'm going to explain this well but my experience supports TD's post. I use an ATI 3850 vc. Along with the card came an overclocking Program. Along with that I'm using an E8500. Originally I used the program to oc the vc when the e8500 was not oc'd. It went to a certain point and that was all she could do. I then oc'd the e8500 to about 3.3. After this the vc could be oc'd a little more. Once raised again I increased the cpu and again the vc could be oc'd a bit more. However, at some point the card could not be oc'd anymore so the card reached it's maximun safe oc. So, the lesson learned was that you're going to reach a barrier based on either your cpu or your vc. In other words, you can buy more vc than your cpu can handle if the cpu is marginal and you can buy more cpu than your vc can take advantage of. Sorry I don't have more technical jargon here. This is just something I experienced.

Yes it would.  8800's are becoming rare as they were replaced by the 9800 series.  Basically the same thing.

ATI and Nvidia follow the same basic naming processes for their cards.

The numbers are sequential by series.  This being 5xxx, 6xxx, 7xxx, 8xxx, 9xxx, or the new 2xx series for Nvidia.  A 8500GT is slower and less expensive than a 8800 GTX.  But a 9500GT is slower than the 8800 GTX.  That 2nd digit defines the real difference in the cards.

Same rules apply for ATI.  I'm sure someone can find a link to the naming architecture and hierarchy for both ATI and Nvidia.
