Game Screen Freezes

While flying game freezes and or gets very shakey/ laggie. I have used same graphics settings for last 2 years never any trouble. I have found only way to get rid of issue is to turn all updates off and to use cartoon graphics.  anyone else having same troubles?

In my tests, two of those updates can cost up to 15% of your computers CPU performance, if they are installed.
