The palestinians who were shown on TV after 9/11 dancing on street...

There was a detailed report on german TV about these pictures.

These palestinians were dancing for other reasons - but they even didnt knew what was happening in the USA.

Now most people in the USA only remember the palastinians as criminals who were dancing on the street because americans were killed in a terroristic action.

Thats the way propaganda is working. And its interestinmg how effective some propaganda pictures could cause fear and anger in normal people and make them accepting things which they never would accept in normal life.

You remember footage of some Palistiians dancing in the street.

None of which were members of the PA.  Infact, the PA including Arafat denounced the attacks strongly.

No, the images of dancing pals after 9-11 were real. Despite the fact that the Pals have been trying everything in their power to distance themselves from it, including claiming that they are faked.

Arafat was on TV the same day trying to deny the reports, knowing the PR nightmare they are. LOL that old **** even went to donate blood to the victims...he should call of his suicide bomber minions instead...

And Thrawn, did you really expect members of the PA (Palestinian Authority presumably) to dance in the streets? That would be like Chiracq or Shröder or a German or French cabinet minister dancing in the street after another suicide bomber in Baghdad.

People like this are about as low as any human could possibly be.

Trying to find our bearings, my husband and I went into an American-style cafe in the Hamra district, near Rue Verdun, rated as one of the most expensive shopping streets in the world. Here the cognitive dissonance was immediate, and direct. The café's sophisticated clientele was celebrating, laughing, cheering and making jokes, as waiters served hamburgers and Diet Pepsi. Nobody looked shocked, or moved. They were excited, very excited.
An hour later, at a little market near the U.S. Embassy, on the outskirts of Beirut, a thrilled shop assistant showed us, using his hands, how the plane had crashed into the twin towers. He, too, was laughing.

Once back at the house where we were staying, we started scanning the international channels. Soon came reports of Palestinians celebrating. The BBC reporter in Jerusalem said it was only a tiny minority. Astonished, we asked some moderate Arabs if that was the case. "Nonsense," said one, speaking for many. "Ninety percent of the Arab world believes that Americans got what they deserved."

An exaggeration? Rather an understatement. A couple of days later, we headed north to Tripoli, near the Syrian border. On the way, we read that Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, who donated blood in front of the cameras, was rejecting any suggestion that his people were rejoicing over the terrorist attack. "It was less than 10 children in Jerusalem," he said.

I blame Flip Wilson.

He's the one that made "The Devil made me do it!" defense so well-known and popular.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Nuke, you know better than to put words in other peoples mouths...

I find it strange because they ran an story here where they looked up the old lady in person (she who danced and made funny noises) and interviewed her and everything...

And she didnt looked like she had aged a day!

My apologies Hortlund.  I did not mean to imply that the images were fake.  My contention is that those few that did dance, do not represent Palistine, or it's government.

The Arabs, their media and frankly their governments, even those 'friendly' to the West blame America (or Israel) for everything.  It suits them because they don't have look at themselves. If everything is America's fault then they don't have to face reality. Most of their problems are self inflicted but to face that is alien to their culture which is essentially fatalistic in character. If Allah didn't make it happen then 'Boosh' did it or Clinton or whoever is in power at the time.

911 was a conspiracy of Mossad and the CIA to give an excuse to attack on Afghanistan and launch a crusade against Islam! A laughable statement?   I've had that said to me in all seriousness by a moderate Muslim.  I suggested the he felt that way because he could not countenance the idea that his faith and his people could commit such an atrocity. He didn't accept that but I don't think I'm wrong.

The average ignorant man in the Arab street just knows what he is told. He's poor because America deems it so. It's not because his government is corrupt or incompetent.  Bush did it.

For all the oil swishing around the Middle East there is an astonishing amount of poverty stricken Arabs out there. So much for Arab solidarity or Muslim charity.

So it's no surprise that Palestinians danced in the streets after 911. Their poverty and oppression was in their view caused by America.  Similarly the Arab media blaming America for 'security failures'  is a way of avoding the unpalatable fact that  those bombs were planted by Arab terrorists to kill  fellow Arabs and muslims.

It's America's fault for failing them to protect them from their own people!

It's a mad mad world!

Our only fault is that we are stupid enough to believe in a better world, for ourselves and for others.  We are stupid enough to think that Good will triumph on it's own merit.  We are gullible enough to think that because it is possible for the poor and the weak to succeed in our country, that it is possible everywhere.  We refuse to believe that people can be Evil, both as individuals, and as societies.

We are ****ing stupid.
