The Democrats are getting the tar beat out of them constantly by Limbaugh and Hannity, and they feel they don't have a platform," Schultz said.

hehe maybe if they tried telling the truth and stopped with the demogogary people would start listening to their ideas.  Probably not though because then they'd realize/remember that they have no good ideas.

I think competition is a good thing! Maybe, just maybe one day the two sides could actually WORK FOR THE PEOPLE and not their own political agendas. :)

The "D" in Democrats stands for DISORGANIZED.
Just look at the rag-tag rabble they're fielding for president.

What will they talk about?

Well ever couple of years they think they've come up with "the answer to limbaugh" and each and every time they fail.   It's so predictable it's sad.  They fail to understand that the reason Rush made it so big so fast is that he said what his listeners wanted to hear.  He said the very things they knew in their hearts for years but would never get said in the main stream press.  AND he LOVES to take on liberals on his show.  None of the liberal shows I've listened to could do that.  The callers would pwn the hosts.  I predict it will be the same with Gore's new network too.

Wow Nexus you actually said something I agree with :D  Did you watch that sorry excuse of a debate the other night? To think I was actually worried about Clark :rofl

No I didn't. The Democrats don't interest me.
And there's not substance in Political debates any more.

Except when Arianna jibes the English challenged Arnold.
I hoping McClain would go independent, or La Rouche gets out of jail (snicker.. j/k).

Gotta laugh at this, arguing that liberal radio should 'tell the truth' so people will start listening is what you want the Libs to do to counter Limbaughs outright lies and out of context distortions that draws so many shee....um, listeners...this is rich.  :)

Actualy, the Left has a good talk show host in Randi Rhodes, unfortunatley Rush has put the smack down on her getting any meaningfull syndication by pressuring , < or threatening, which ever floats your boat > the parent company who owns both shows.

won't be as hard to beat Limbaugh now

be surprised if he is still on the air after 11/2004 after Bush wins again

his heyday was during slicks abortion of an admin - now with his 2face addiction ... he should fade away, before he does more harm than good to the conservative cause

I was pondering this question earlier today: "Why do conservative talk radio programs dominate the airwaves?"  While some would argue the assertion that the mainstream media (newspapers and TV news) is in general biased to the left, the perception is undeniable.  My own theory is that for many years the left ignored radio as a means to push their views, seeing newspapers and television, as the more powerful media, as the more ready forum for pushing their agenda.  These agendas were always pushed as "moderate" versus being "liberal."  Conservatives, on the other hand, felt that most major newspapers and TV news shows were biased against them.  Thus, the found the radio waves as fertile ground for getting their message out.  A key difference was, the newpapers and TV news shows claimed they were presenting a balance view, where as Limbaugh and other conservative pundits made no claims to be other than what they are.

A further belief of mine is that, if a liberal actually tried openly espousing the liberal agenda, it would be rejected by most.  That's why there are no major liberal radio hosts.  Hense the greater success of "moderate" or "centrist" Democrats, both polictically and even in the media.  Of course, if you're far enough to the left (or right), someone in the center always looks like an extremist;).

Great comments by Rip, Animal, Nexus, and Sabre.

I have long described myself as a radical moderate, and am very frustrated with the right & left.

*******

udie...I do disagree that Limbaugh loved to take on liberals.  He was the master at creating strawmen..."Liberals say that...", and he would put words in their mouths or use weak arguments.  No, Rush has never, ever been able to deal with intelligent criticism of his ideas with a live critic.  He himself admits that his show is the most tightly screened that there is.

Anyone remember the TV show pilot he did?  Gays and lesbians in the audience began to challenge him and he couldn't respond.  He started sweating profusely and then stood with his back to the audience about 2 feet from the camera talking only to it.  They had to clear the studio, let him shower, and finished the show with just Rush doing the only thing he can do...a monolog.

The only progressives that the corporate media are willing to allow on the air are the most boring, meek, insipid types.  And only the most kooky radical ideas can be presented, so as to ensure that any radical change with merit is tainted and made ludicrous.

*******

Any liberal talk show host---an anti-Rush--would be branded anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-Mom, anti-Apple pie, and would get no sponsors.  If he were on NPR, conservative congressmen would gut NPR's government subsidy.  It just won't happen.
