Ok so I was a bit delayed in grabbing a copy of UT2003.  Picked it up last night and whammo I'm in heaven.

First impression:  Definitely a beta.  My expectations were a tad higher.  But I guess I've been spoiled by MOH and CoD style gameplay.  This is definitely going to go somewhere when polished.

A few tweaks after playing an hour or two online last night:

1)  Recoil for MP40 is way too high IMO and recoil in general for all weapons are a bit "jerky".  Again, spoiled by MOH and CoD... the recoil motion should be "smoothed".

2)  Running or "jogging" speed (non-sprint) should be tweaked a *tad* faster.  It'd be perfect... feels a tad slow at the moment.

I'm drooling.  I became familiar with the Stg44 fairly quick...very nice weapon.  The Kar98 w/ scope is fun when you can grab that spot.  Sniping hasn't always caught my eye, but the scope effect is really neat.

Dunno how far from the realism aspect a few small arms would deviate, but each soldier should have something other than one main weapon + nades.

I'll be in again tonight.  Any specific servers you guys are playing on?  I just found the best ping and decent amount of players last night... it was fun.  handle:  -=octavius=-

I'll usually be floating on the German side with a K98 or the semi-automatic rifle (forget the name).

see you in there!

Welcome aboard. A few of us in AH have found this gem. They fixed some things with the latest patch but also buggered up a couple of items. They will have a small patch very soon and will continue to polish and add maps in the future.

I love the "realistic" aiming and feel of the game. None of that bunny-hoppin' crap. A great game so far and will only get better.

I usually play on the Russian side and wield a MN 91/30 for long range shots. :)

Yick, bastige Russkie sniper :)

After 2 hours tonight, I'm pretty damn good with the K98 (non-scope).  I can hit targets just as far as the scoped K98 can.  I also love the bayonet!  G36 is also my baby.  I'm a rifle tard.  Fav thing to do is stealing russian SVT's.  Bayonet capable + semi-automatic.

I discovered one important thing:  Turn smooth mouse OFF!  It had the opposite effect... it was too "grainy" with it on.  I turned it off and was amazed.

I too have been enjoying this mod. The maps are kinda bugged at the moment so I'm not playing as much till the new patch. Every map you can get under the map and shoot anyone anywhere and they never see you ... kinda ruins the fun. I've submitted the bug.. hopefully they can figure out whats up.
