Celebrity Encounter Pt. II
« on: October 30, 2003, 04:37:27 PM »
There was a thread a while back about brushes with celebrities.  Well, now I have a new one.

My wife and I were eating lunch at the Top Water grill on April Fool Point near beautiful San Leon, Texas.  We were enjoying our lunch outside as the wind cooled an otherwise "a bit too warm" day.  We finished up and started walking out, she decided to go to the ladies  room (upon which I quipped, "What makes you think you qualify for that??") and I headed outside to the walkway that leads to the parking lot.  I was out there for a couple of minutes when I see a shortish man, maybe late-40's to early-50's walk out and by me with a younger female in tow.  He was wearing Houston Rockets sweats, baseball cap and a beard half way down his chest with a set of cheap sunglasses on.

Who was it?

There is a GLARING hint in the story above.

Yeap, none other than Dusty Hill!!  He followed us in his car and we got to see him turn in to his house...err...compound.  It was HUUUGE.  Walled, gated and on the water.  It was impressive to say the least.  He was driving a Mercedes S-class coupe, black with limo tint.  What was cool was he lowered his driver's side window and let his left arm hang out.  A true Texan!!

My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Thanks.  I forgot to mention that this celebrity encounter happened today at about noon CST.

It's been a good week so far, let's hope I get a call from Homeland Security with a job offer, then it will be the best week of my life!!

Just got to love H-Town!

Christmas 1996 I was at my old bass player/singer's townhouse near the gallaria in Houston.  His chick wanted to start a fire so we went out to go find a starter log.  The only place we could find open was a Walgreen's on Post Oak at Westheimer (might have been 1 block over I can't remember).  So we go in there and we're looking for a starter log.  I noticed this short REAL skinny dude over at the photo shop.  As we walked past him I see the beard and it goes down to his knees ;)

Turned out it was Billy Gibbons :)

Seen Burt Renyolds at some famous steakhouse near Boston.  This place alway had a line.  Great place to eat but I forgot the name.  This was back in 83-84.  Ole Burt and his followers just walked right on in.  Bastiage didn't even have to wait in line!!  WTF??

:)
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

Happened to be cruising the back streets of Bangor Maine recently and thought I'd take a ride past Stephen Kings house. Lo and behold there was a small crowd gathered  nearby and much to my amazement there he stood signing autographs! Well no it wasn't Stephen King but that other celebrity, actor  and Bangor native LePaul!!!!

How come his face is so red?  Does he have that condition Clinton has...Rosaria or whatever?

This past summer my brother-in-law had daily encounters with a well know US celebrity...Mr. Ross Perot.

My brother-in-law runs a boat tour called The Wildcat...a fast catermaran which takes passengers on a round-the-island tour at breakneck speed...good fun, especially on a rough day.

Anyhoo...Ross has a Cigarette racing boat that rountinely races the Wildcat while on its tours.  Many time you can see that the driver of the Cigarette boat has one passenger...a little short guy.  ;)

It really gives the tourists a "charge" to be in a race with one of America's richest men....and if it is really rough the Wildcat usually comes out on top.  If it is calm there is no way they can keep up though.
Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain
