P38s?

did HTC fix the P38's fowler and dive flaps?

I think you can assume the 38 will be even more perfect.

I am hoping for a 38F someday.  For me, that's the only plane other than the 38L variant I would want to fly.

whats different in the 'new' flight model?
(compared to the current AH1 model.. dont want specific technicals, just tell me how it feels in comparison)

The old FM feels like a lower bitrate version, this one feels smoother and more precise.
For example, the departure stalls feel more exact, you can really throw the planes around now, instead of the old version feeling rather vague.
And the torque is stronger, though I didn't play much with it, not sure about the prop wash and other self-influencing effects either.

someone up there said it's still being worked, so I imagine there's some things we're entirely not seeing, maybe the FM will be affected by the DM, that'd be neat.
No more bogies hosed to death flying perfectly.

I wouldn't expect any new P-38 models until sometime after AH2 Classic goes live.

Frankly, I don't see any problems with the dive flaps in AH.  If I have my P-38 trimmed to neutral and engage the dive flaps in a dive, the dive flaps do pitch my nose up 3-4 degrees like it should.  I have noticed though that if your plane is not trimmed to neutral or that you have combat trim on, the dive flaps don't work as well.

As for the flight model, Pyro had posted a few month back on what is being changed or fixed with the revised AH2 flight model.  Apparentely torque is being fixed in AH2, so I would think that would eliminate the hover like quality of the N1K2 since torque will be that much more of a factor with that plane at low speeds.

It is as close to a perk plane as we have unperked.

Srong points:
Best speed at low alt.
Best acceleration at low alt.
Best climb rate at low alt.
Good firepower.

Weak points:
Short range.
Bad ballistics.

I am not asking for it to be perked, I am just stating the facts.
This is one hell of an aircraft at low alt.

I am not an ace and I hate the La7 because it does not seem to have any weakness I can exploit, which is frustrating.
Outurning it is useless against anyone with half a brain because they dont have to turn with me since they are faster.

Exactly it.  I don't think the flight characteristics of the 38 will change much, but the added torque effects, which the 38 is immune to, will just make it all the more excellent a combatant in the arena.   A similar benefit should be reaped by all the twin engined fighters.

I expect the twin engine fighters to have more roll inertia than they did before.

They've got a lot of weaknesses to exploit, which is one of the reasons they are easy to kill.  The only La7s that are difficult to kill are the ones that just simply run and don't fight.  La7 is horrible in the vertical, which is a good way to bleed its energy and either force the La7 into a turn fight or to disengage and run.  The ohter weaknesses is the one that you pointed out, it's not a very good turn fighter.  And it's got crappy guns, at least velocity wise, which makes them come in close for a kill.  That makes it easy for you to make them over shoot, since most are coming in fast and get on their six for a snap shot on the reversal.

IIRC the P-38 is the only twin engine plane in AH that doesn't have torque.  I don't recall any other twin engine fighter/attack plane from WW2 that had counter-rotating props.
