On Wednesday night, outside his downtown Thai restaurant, Lawrence Storer, 33, was approached by a gunman who demanded money, police said. Storer led the robber into the Sumos Thai Cafe where he retrieved cash. While the gunman, identified as Shantavious Wilson, 24, was in the restaurant, Storer ran and called 911 from his cell phone, police said.
Wilson pointed the gun at Storer, who eventually got back in his Ford Explorer and ran Wilson over, killing him, police said. Prosecutors are reviewing the case.
Follow-up to this story. In this incident, the DA is still considering filing vehicular manslaughter charges against Storer since Wilson was escaping from the scene when Storer went after him and ran him over with the Ford.
Obviously the Thai restaurant owner didn't have any ham and rum to make a sandwich. Otherwise, he wouldn't have had to resort to using his truck.
So let this be a lesson to you: a ham sandwich and spiced rum is a much more effective and safe method of apprehending criminals than a motor vehicle. And remember, nobody has every been arrested for giving their attackers a ham sandwich and rum!
