Just watched a great WW2 docummentry 'P47 Squadron' its all in colour, and started noticing the tracers,NOT curly like it is now,its more or less like the straight effect we have in AH1,which I must say I much prefer, also, one thing Id like to see and I saw in this programme, was that when they were straffing ground ,buildings, parked aircraft etc,was that some tracer rounds BOUNCED off in various directions,be real cool if this could be modelled :D

Agreed. Though I know HTC worked hard on the tracers, as it stands now, I like the old ones better...BUT..this is Beta and Everything is subject to change....

If they didn't spiral exactly the same way every time, I'd love the new ones.

 Curly for 20mm and over

Yeah JOC, that's a good film, seen it before! :)

Like Kweassa says, allow spirally tracer for 16mm and above.  I think the smaller calibre do spiral but because they're travelling at a higher velocity the wavelength of spiral aren't as large as the larger calibre if that makes sense?

Im sure I read somewhere that the rounds 'wobble' in flight which causes the spiral effect, ones we have at the minute spiral a bit TOO much lol,to me it does look a bit silly, but it is beta, and stuff will change!

if you pause, zoom way in, you'll see they're not rounds, but rather tiny little sheep... and we know they're not all that aerodynamic.

Well, I saw some more tracers from some gun footage today.  A f6f strafing a ground target.  I think the key to making these tracers work is to dissapate them very rapidly.  IE the tracer is a fine powder mixing with the air and rapidly becoming invisible as opposed to the ticker tape party effect after a salvo of .50's.

While still I think only 20mm and up should have the new spiral tracers..

They now look great in Beta3!! :aok

Even if they are implemented to all gun types, it would be OK now. The fading impression, smoky feeling etc.. it's terrfic.

Test fired the 6x .50s, and the 6 streams of smoke do not look like noodles anymore - it looks great!!!

 Wtg HTC!
