Yep anti sub patrol blimp..... K series

Mounted Depth charges and a .50 cal, one a K4 even had a shootout with a U boat off the US coast during the war......

Blooz, she is WAY to small to be the USS Akron ZR-4. The Akron was an Airship (had a rigid frame) not a Blimp and was a MONSTER that held 6,500,000 cu ft of helium and could carry 4 aircraft.

Thought so...just guessing really.

The only US Navy airships I can recall from memory are Akron and Shenendoah.

At least I didn't just write "blimp".

Hey Blooz,

The other two most famous US Navy Airships are the MACON (sister to Akron) and the LOS ANGELES (She was German made).

The LA was the only one that didn't crash.

Brady, I'm guessing you've already been to the blimp hangers in Tillamook (probably a few times. I go back to check it out every couple years). nice museum over there, some really sweet planes, and good reading on the air-ships.
