I think this is one of those things that either really bothers a person, or ya just dont give a crap. I'm on the side of don't give a crap.
I used to hate it when I would work for a shot on a superior foe and damage him to the point of unlandable, pull up knowing he's not going to make it and focus on other enemies around only to watch a fellow countryman Dive franticaly to blow-up the injured bird. Some would say "Well, you should have finished him off yourself." (he was clearly unflyable you dolt) I've since moved on to a higher plane of consciousness

I've learned it all evens out one way or another. While that guy is diving for a dying bird, I'm keeping my alt or climbing for an advantage when the next enemy either comes along or desides to dive on that unsuspecting countrymen who's focused solely on the dying target. Who will, in the long run end up with more kills? pretty sure it'll be me, but thats not the reason, I don't like to waste alt/ammo on dying prey
There are on occasion times when I've dove to take out a bogey on a countrymens 12oc, but only if that countrymen was loosing ground. I guess then you could blame me for killstealing, but the faster the bogies are cleared out, the better. I do take a moment and circle above to evaluate the situation below, and most of the time there is more than one countrymen involved so I look elsewhere.
If someone is that obsessed with the game to cry KILLSTEALER!! Then they need to take a moment and realize this isn't for keeps, and there is no Grand Prize for most kills
