General question about 1.05
« on: November 01, 2000, 11:38:00 AM »
Hi

Does anyone have an idea of how carriers and other big ships wil be dealt with when they come out? Will there be a limit to the number of carriers for each country? Or battleships? Who will decide where the carriers go?

thanks GRUNHERZ

No concrete answers from me but as far as who controls the carriers? I'd speculate <Marx Brothers style winky winky eyebrows> that any main arenas will be pre-programmed by HTC, with any changes in how they are used coming community input after thier use for some time.
In scenarios I believe the CM and CO's of the respective sides will have  "command" of  the CV fleets and where they sail.

I heard that since the Germans never had an operational carrier, there will be no German planes in 1.05.

Funked-- sincere question... wasn't there a 109.. maybe based on the E3 model? that was modified with a wooden tail and an arrestor hook for carrier ops?

I am probably mistaken.

Yes SW, it was called the Bf 109T.

There was also a ship-borne Stuka, the Ju 87C.

Of course they never finished the carrier.  So the Luftwaffles will clearly be banned from AH 1.05, in the name of historical accuracy.

Yup..

Germans had an Carrier plane Willy worked over one of the me109s for this duty.

Of coarse when the carriers come out,i will spent 90% of my time in a PT boat trying to sink em

ME-109-T's. The equivalent to 109E's maybe F's.  They would be Main Arena dog meat - even for PT boats

Don't forget the He-112 V12 which was being tested for carrier use (And reportedly outflew the comparable 109   ).
Oh, and don't forget, Wildcats were used in Operation Torch. Too bad 1.05 won't be out in time for the North Afrika scenario. I know 1.05 is Hellcats, not Wildcats, but if Tiffy's can be beaufighters...)

The F-18, F-14 and every navy fighter up til those were all based on the Fw-190 you know.
