CH JS hardness
« on: November 04, 2003, 10:58:24 AM »
All 3 Saiteks I've had have broken after a few months of use.
1st a Cyborg gold, at 6 months old the pots died.
X45, also about 6mos, the buttons died.
Cyborg Evo, 1.5 month, the js axii stopped working.

I'm thinking of a CH js, the Fighterstick USB. Considering I'm not ham handed but apparently not on the average either, how long would this js last?

How hard is the js spring and how large is the deadzone compared to the above sticks?

I bought my son a saitek racing wheel and a Cyborg Force.
The Cyborg Force is in the back of the closet in faver of much cheaper MS Sidewinder Precision 2 (no feedback but at least it will center), the wheel is in the garbage where it belongs.

CH stuff is pretty durable in my experience.  I've had three problems in 10 years of using their stuff.

Flightstick hat died after 2 years.  I sent it back and they sent me a new one.

Pro Throttle pot got all spikey after a year or two.  I got a new pot from their site for about $10.  Install took about 10 minutes and it was good to go.

Pro Pedals USB had a wiring problem.  I returned them and they repaired them and sent them to the wrong person.  So they sent me a new set.  :)

CH springs are pretty soft (designed to be used with your wrist, not your whole arm).  Deadzones are very small.  They have a very precise and smooth detent at the center point on each axis, one of the main reasons I switched to their stuff.
