Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.

Nah, things are bad when they signed Gannon, why do you think Gannon had been cut from 2 or 3 other teams before the Raiders? Cause he sucks! He had a fluke year last year...and considering how avg. the NFL was, and considering the two top receivers in the game he threw to...he just looked that much better on paper.

There's a reason Gruden cut him from the Bucs, and that is that Rob Johnson tends to hold onto the ball and run when he should really be looking to unload the ball out of bounds.  As a result, he gets sacked alot and loses a lot of yardage.  I think Spurrier figured that out earlier this year, too, which is why Johnson was available for the Raiders.  Heck, maybe the Raiders will make him a running back that throws, instead of a quarterback that runs.

I guess it all just proves that Flutie should've been the starter at Buffalo all those years ago, instead of Johnson.

They could do worse for a 4th string QB.  He has an 84.6 career rating.  There are a hell of a lot of starters in the league with a worse record than that.  I actually wouldn't be surprised if he is the opening day starter 2004.

Actually Rip, I have to disagree with ya on that.  Gannon is a good quarterback.  In fact for a streach there he was a great quarterback.  His passes are (were) right on the mark and his years with the Raiders he was rated very high.

If you base his success on his receivers then you must say the same for many quarterbacks, such as Terry Bradshaw, Dan Marino and Joe Montana.  All these guys had top receivers to throw too.

It is truely amazing how some quarterback are hot right out of the gun and others take awhile to mature and get in their "stride"  I believe Gannon was in his "stride" for about 3 years but I do believe it is over.

What kills me is they bring on Rob Johnson while they are keeping Tee Martin as a practice quarterback.   Bring the T-Man up!!  :)

I do not believe Callahan will be around much longer.
